Marquette Park, originally called ''Lake Front Park'', is a municipal park completely surrounded by Indiana Dunes National Park. Its primary features include 1.4 miles (2.2 km) of Lake Michigan beaches, inland ponds, sand dunes, wetlands, a lagoon, and indigenous oak savanna. The park is located within the Miller Beach community. The park includes the Octave Chanute museum, registered as a National Landmark of Soaring. History Dunes waterfront Marquette Park has a storied past. Before Euro-American settlement, the area was populated by Miami Indians. The entire southernmost edge of Lake Michigan, including Miller Beach, had sandy soil unsuitable for raising crops. Chris Marquette (born October 3, 1984) is an American actor. He is known for his roles in such films as ''The Tic Code'', ''Freddy vs. Jason'', '' The Girl Next Door'', ''Just Friends'', '' Alpha Dog'' and '' Fanboys''. He is also known for his series regular roles on '' Joan of Arcadia'' and ''Strong Medicine''. Biography Marquette has two younger brothers, actors Sean Marquette and Eric. His father was a Cuban refugee and is a nuclear engineer. He supports charities such as the Sunshine Kids Foundation (to grant wishes of seriously ill, handicapped and abused children), Pediatric AIDS, and the Children's AIDS Fund. The Marquette Golden Eagles, formerly known as the Marquette Warriors, Blue and Gold, Gold, Hilltoppers, and Golden Avalanche (football only), are the athletic teams representing Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. The Marquette West River is a tributary of the Marquette River, flowing into the unorganized territory of Lac-Ashuapmushuan, Quebec, in the Regional County Municipality (RCM) of Le Domaine-du-Roy, in the administrative region of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, in Quebec, in Canada. Marquette Lake is a freshwater body of the unorganized territory of Lac-Ashuapmushuan, Quebec in the Regional County Municipality (RCM) Le Domaine-du-Roy, north-west of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean administrative region, in province of Quebec, in Canada.
