Maribo is a town in Lolland Municipality in Region Sjælland on the island of Lolland in south Denmark. Maribo Cathedral ( da, Maribo Domkirke) is a Gothic cathedral church in Maribo on the island of Lolland in the southeast of Denmark. It was originally part of Maribo Abbey which was founded in the early 15th century. The chancel, the oldest section of the cathedral, probably dates from 1416. Maribo Bryghus was a Danish brewery located in the town of Maribo. The brewery was founded in 1895 by Christian Jørgensen as Thor Brewery (''Thor Bryggeri''). It was renamed ten years later to avoid confusion with the Thor Brewery in Randers. In 1997 Maribo Bryghus was acquired by Albani Brewery, which later merged with Bryggerigruppen, now Royal Unibrew. In 2007 it was decided to close the brewery in the first quarter of 2008. One of the reasons was the increase of the water price in Maribo. Maribo Bryghus was the discount brewery of Royal Unibrew. Maribo Open-Air Museum
Maribo Open-Air Museum ( da, Frilandsmuseet i Maribo) is a museum located on the western outskirts of Maribo on the Danish island of Lolland. It is located from Torvet, to the west of the Maribo Sø Camping site and oak woodland, near the northern banks of Søndersø Lake. It is the third oldest open-air museum in Denmark, and is in the backdrop of the Maribo Lakes Nature Park. Located on Meinckesvej, Maribo, the museum is open to visitors from 1 May to 30 September every day except Monday from 10 am to 4 pm. Description Opened in 1927, the museum provides a picture of village life in Lolland and Falster in the 19th century. Lolland Municipality
Lolland municipality (on the island of Lolland) is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Sjælland in Denmark. According to ''Municipal And Regional Key Figures'' (www.noegletal.dk) it covers a total area of 885.40 km² (341.85 square miles) and has a population of 40,022 (1 March 2022;45.20 inh./sq.km/117.06/sq.mi.). Stiftsmuseum Maribo, also known as the Maribo County Museum, is a museum located in the centre of Maribo on the Danish island of Lolland. The Bridgettines, or Birgittines, formally known as the Order of the Most Holy Savior (; abbreviated OSsS), is a monastic religious order of the Catholic Church founded by Saint Birgitta or Bridget of Sweden in 1344, and approved by Pope Urban V in 1370. They follow the Rule of Saint Augustine. There are today several different branches of Bridgettines. Christian IV Of Denmark
Christian IV (12 April 1577 – 28 February 1648) was King of Denmark and Norway and Duke of Holstein and Schleswig from 1588 until his death in 1648. His reign of 59 years, 330 days is the longest of Danish monarchs and Scandinavian monarchies. Blåtårn (in English: ''Blue Tower'') was a tower in Copenhagen Castle, the Danish royal family's palace in Copenhagen, Denmark. The tower was used as a dungeon and has been known as such in history. It is not known when the tower was built, but it is known to have existed during the reign of King John I of Denmark (reign 1481-1513).
