Maltzahn Family
The House of Maltzahn or Maltzan is the name of an ancient German noble family of the counts and barons von Maltza(h)n which originated from Mecklenburg, Germany, whose members occupied many important positions in the Duchy of Mecklenburg and in its successor states, in the Kingdom of Prussia and later in the German Empire. The family owned large properties in Mecklenburg, where they are now once again based on several estates. Geoffrey von Maltzahn (born July 22, 1980) is an American biological engineer and businessman in the biotechnology and life sciences industry who has founded a number of companies including Indigo Agriculture, Sana Biotechnology, Kaleido Biosciences, Seres Therapeutics, Axcella Health, Generate Biomedicines and Tessera Therapeutics. Mortimer Von Maltzan
Joachim Karl Ludwig Mortimer Graf von Maltzan (or Maltzahn), Freiherr von Wartenberg und Penzlin (born 1793 at Schloss Lissa; died 1843 in Berlin) was a Prussian diplomat and Foreign Minister from 1841 to 1842. Maltzan was the son of the Count Joachim Alexander Kasimir Maltzahn and his wife Antoinie (''née'' Hoym). He himself married the Countess Auguste von der Goltz. Maltzan participated in the War of the Sixth Coalition as an officer in the Prussian Garde du Corps. Then he joined the diplomatic service. At first, he was a legation secretary in various embassies. Later he was the ''chargé d'affaires'' in Darmstadt and envoy to The Hague, Hannover and Vienna. Lastly, he had the rank of minister plenipotentiary. Michael Maltzan is the principal architect at Michael Maltzan Architecture (MMA), a Los Angeles-based architecture firm. He received a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University and both a Bachelor of Architecture degree and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Rhode Island School of Design. Joseph von Maltzahn (born 2 August 1978 in Oxford, Oxfordshire) is a British rower and Boat Race winner. Education Maltzahn was educated at Eton College where he took up the sport of rowing, Oxford Brookes University and Kellogg College, Oxford where he studied Architectural History. Hermann Friedrich Freiherr von Maltzan (18 December 1843, Rostock – 19 February 1891, Berlin) was a German malacologist known for his work in the field of conchology. A former law student at the University of Rostock, in 1864–65 he undertook an extended scientific journey to France, Spain, Italy and Egypt; a trip in which he collected numerous zoological specimens and expanded his malacological knowledge. In 1879, he traveled to Portugal, where he conducted extensive zoological research in the Algarve region. Afterwards, he continued his research in western Africa (especially French Senegambia), followed by travels to Greece, Crete and Asia Minor. Heinrich Karl Eckard Helmuth von Maltzan (September 6, 1826– February 23, 1874), also known as Heinrich Eckhard Carl Helmuth von Maltzan and by his title Baron of Wartenburg and Penzlin, was a German traveller. Günther Freiherr von Maltzahn (20 October 1910 – 24 June 1953) was a German military aviator and wing commander in the Luftwaffe during World War II. As a fighter ace, he was credited with 68 enemy aircraft shot down in 497 combat missions.
