MOIK Baku is an Azerbaijani football club, based in Baku. MOIK was originally built around the same concept of military sports club as CSKA Moscow, CSKA Sofia. History The club was established under name OIK ( az, Ordu İdman Klubu; en, Sports Club of Army) in 1961 as sport society of Azerbaijani Armed Forces and was funded by USSR Ministry of Defense until 1990 and Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense since 1993. It has never participated at any Soviet football league, just one time has entered Soviet Cup and has been eliminated in preliminary round, but 4 times has won Azerbaijan USSR League and 8 times Azerbaijan USSR Cup. MOIK began to participate at Azerbaijan First Division in 1993, making its Azerbaijan Premier League debut in 1995. The club has won Azerbaijan First Division two times. In the 2007–08 season, the Azerbaijan First Division—the second tier of professional football in Azerbaijan—was organised in two groups, A and B, each with 10 teams. 2011–12 Azerbaijan First Division
The 2011-12 Azerbaijan First Division is the second-level of football in Azerbaijan. Fourteen teams participated in Azerbaijani First Division in 2011-12. Teams At the end of the 2010–11 season, champions FC Absheron and runners-up was initially must be promoted but due financial difficulties, FC Absheron became defunct, while FK Mughan was demoted to first division and replaced by Sumgayit City F.C. A further three places were given to Taraggi FC, Lokomotiv-Bilajary FK and Həkəri FK, who will be debutantes from this season. 2010–11 Azerbaijan Premier League
The 2010–11 Azerbaijan Premier League (known as the Unibank Premyer Liqası for sponsorship reasons) was the nineteenth season of the Premier League since its establishment in 1992. The fixtures were announced on 29 July 2010; the season began on 7 August 2010 and ended on 28 May 2011. Neftchi Baku were the eventual champions, winning their first Azerbaijani championship since 2005. The league was competed over two stages. The first stage consisted of a regular home-and-away round-robin schedule for a total of 22 matches per team. The competition was then split in half, with the teams ranked first through sixth playing out the championship and the European spots while the bottom six teams having to avoid one of the two relegation places.
