Lynn County, Texas
Lynn County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 5,596. Its county seat is Tahoka. The county was created in 1876 and organized in 1903. Lynn County, along with Crosby and Lubbock Counties, is part of the Lubbock Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). The Lubbock MSA and Levelland Micropolitan Statistical Area (µSA), encompassing only Hockley County, form the larger Lubbock–Levelland Combined Statistical Area (CSA). Lynn County was one of 30 prohibition, or entirely dry, counties in Texas, but is now a moist county. The county has two historical museums, the O'Donnell Heritage Museum, with a Dan Blocker room in O'Donnell, and the Tahoka Pioneer Museum in Tahoka. O'Donnell, Texas
O'Donnell is a West Texas city that lies primarily in Lynn County, Texas, Lynn County, with a small portion extending south into Dawson County, Texas. Its population was 831 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census, down from 1,011 at the 2000 census. The Lynn county portion of O'Donnell is part of the Lubbock Metropolitan area. History O'Donnell was settled in 1910 and named for Tom J. O'Donnell, a railroad promoter. O'Donnell was a railroad-created town, founded in anticipation that the Pecos and Northern Texas Railway would lay tracks through the area. A branch of the Pecos and Northern Texas Railway was constructed from Slaton, Texas, Slaton to Lamesa, Texas, Lamesa in 1910. The rails were abandoned and removed in 1999. Grassland, Texas
Grassland is an unincorporated community in Lynn County, West Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had an estimated population of 61 in 2000. Geography Grassland lies on the level plains of the Llano Estacado in West Texas. It is situated at the junction of Farm Roads 212 and 1313 in east central Lynn County, approximately two miles south of U.S. Highway 380 and two miles west of the Garza County line. History The community was founded in 1888 and grew up around a ranch owned by Enos Seeds and his brother, Thomas. A post office was established at the site on January 12, 1889. It remained operational until May 7, 1900. During the early 1900s, former ranch lands were divided into smaller plots and sold for farming and other agricultural purposes. The Caprock Escarpment is a term used in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico to describe the geographical transition point between the level High Plains of the Llano Estacado and the surrounding rolling terrain. In Texas, the escarpment stretches around south-southwest from the northeast corner of the Texas Panhandle near the Oklahoma border. Wilson, Texas
Wilson is a small rural city in the northeastern quadrant of Lynn County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 489. History The town of Wilson was established in 1912 by William Dickson Green of Shiner, Texas, and Lonnie Lumsden. Early settlers included German and Polish emigrant farmers who acquired property on former Wilson County School lands located in Lynn County, hence the city's name. Wilson was founded in anticipation that the Panhandle and Santa Fe Railway would lay tracks through the area. Kiowa
Kiowa () people are a Native American tribe and an indigenous people of the Great Plains of the United States.
