Lower Town
Lower Town (also spelled "Lowertown" (french: la Basse-Ville) is a neighbourhood in Rideau-Vanier Ward in central Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, to the east of downtown. It is the oldest part of the city. It is bounded by Rideau Street to the south, the Ottawa River to the west and north and the Rideau River to the east. It includes the commercial Byward Market area in the south-western part, and is predominantly residential in the north and east. It was historically French Canadian and Irish (as opposed to English and Scottish ''Upper Town'', a term no longer in use) and is to this day home to many Franco-Ontarian families, businesses and institutions. ''I Love to Lie'' is the debut studio album by Atlanta duo Lowertown, released on October 21, 2022, by Dirty Hit. The album was recorded in London with Catherine Marks producing. Release The album was announced on August 25, 2022, along with the release of lead single "Bucktooth" and a music video directed by Zev Megasis. Second single "Antibiotics" was released September 15, third single No Way released October 6, and the fourth single "My Friends" was released simultaneous with the album. The album was released on October 21, 2022, by Dirty Hit. Recording Avsha Weinberg described his and his bandmate's recording process for the album as "worse" than that of their previous EP ''The Gaping Maw''. The duo recorded in London with Catherine Marks in the middle of Winter. Olivia Osby had just gone through a bad breakup, both members contracted COVID-19, and the longer recording process meant spending more time away from their newly adopted home in New York City. The Lowertown Historic District is a historic district in the Lowertown neighborhood of Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. This 16-block warehouse and wholesaling district comprises 37 contributing properties built 1870s–1920. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 for the significance of its river and rail connections, economic impact, architecture, and urban planning. Lowertown Historic District is a national historic district located at Lockport in Niagara County, New York. The district is predominantly residential in nature, with some commercial structures and warehouses. The mose elegant homes are along Market Street, east of Chapel Street, facing the Erie Canal. Lowertown-by-Helston
Lowertown-by-Helston is a large hamlet in Sithney civil parish, bordering Wendron parish, in Cornwall, United Kingdom. The hamlet is one mile north of the centre of the town of Helston, and is built around the River Cober. The hamlet used to be an industrial village, with mills, mines, railway stations, shops and churches; all of which have been closed down. The settlement is named Lowertown on Ordnance Survey maps. The longer name is used when necessary to distinguish it from the Lowertown in Luxulyan parish. Because Lowertown is built on the banks of the River Cober it is vulnerable to flooding. The hamlet is not known to have destructive floods but the river can overflow onto the road and path along it. The hill going down into Lowertown can also flood, but has never had a dramatic flood.
