Districts Of Austria
A district (german: Bezirk) is a second-level division of the executive arm of the Austrian government. Etymology Its place name can be considered unusual as "groß" is German for "big" or "tall" while "klein" translates to "small", thus, it can be translated as "big-small". However, this does not reflect the real origins of the name. The "-klein" portion, according to German linguist Fritz Lochner von Hüttenbach, likely stems from Slavic roots in form of the word "glina" (=clay, loam) or "kljun" (=beak). Leutschach An Der Weinstraße
Leutschach an der Weinstraße () is since January 2015 a new municipality with 3,794 residents (as of 1 January 2016) in the Leibnitz District of Styria, Austria. The municipality was founded as part of the Styria municipal structural reform, on 31 December 2014, from the dissolved independent municipalities Leutschach, Schloßberg, Eichberg-Trautenburg and Glanz an der Weinstraße. On January 1, 2015, the administration of the new market town, Leutschach an der Weinstraße, moved into the renovated office building, in which all municipal council offices are housed. The town formed, together with Ehrenhausen an der Weinstraße, Arnfels, Oberhaag and Straß in Steiermark, the tourism agency "Die südsteirische Weinstraße" with base in the town Leutschach an der Weinstraße. Leibnitz (Slovenian: ''Lipnica'') is a city in the Austrian state of Styria and on 1 Jan. 2017 had a population of 12,176. It is located to the south of the city of Graz, between the Mur and Sulm rivers. The town is the capital of the Leibnitz political district, which covers about 727 km2, within which more than 80,000 people live. Leibnitz acts as a cultural, educational, judicial and economic focus for the surrounding district. History Although the center of the current town is only about 3 km away from the archaeological site of Flavia Solva, Leibnitz cannot claim direct successorship to this Roman municipium founded in the 1st century, and finally destroyed in the early 5th century. Kitzeck Im Sausal
Kitzeck is the central settlement in the Sausal mountain range in Southern Styria, Austria. It is the highest-altitude wine-growing community in Austria. Geography Kitzeck im Sausal lies between the Koralpe in the west, the Little Hungarian Plain in the east, the mountains of Upper Styria in the north and the mountain ridges of Slovenia in the south. The area of the municipality is 1,629 ha. Tourism Kitzeck is home to the first wine museum that was established in Styria (1979).
