Laid (album)
''Laid'' is the fifth studio album by British rock band James. It was released on 27 September 1993 through Fontana Records. The album's sound, which is "stripped-down" as compared to their prior releases, was inspired by their recent experience touring as supporting act to Neil Young. Enlisting Brian Eno as producer, James recorded for six weeks at The Windings in Wrexham, Wales, and Real World Studios in Box, Wiltshire. The sessions also resulted in the experimental sixth studio album '' Wah Wah'' (1994). The album's lead single, "Sometimes (Lester Piggott),", was released on 30 August 1993. Bolstered by the song's success, James toured the US as part of the WOMAD festival. " Laid" was released as the album's second single on 1 November 1993. The band toured the UK the following month, supported Duran Duran in the US, and finally embarked on their own US tour. ''Laid'' has been re-pressed on vinyl three times; it was reissued on CD in 2001, in 2015 as a standalone release, ...

Laid (Skunk Album)
Skunk was an American alternative rock band formed in 1986 in Maplewood, New Jersey. During the group's existence Skunk released two albums on Twin/Tone Records; 1989's ''Last American Virgin'' and 1991's ''Laid''. Skunk was the first band of now respected session guitarist Matt Sweeney, who after their demise went on to form New York City math rock quartet Chavez, and drummer Claude Coleman, Jr., best known for his decades long tenure playing with Ween. Also in the band for its entire history was bassist Matt Quigley, who later went on to form the art-pop group Vaganza. While not well known during the time of their existence, they were a favorite group of Billy Corgan of the multi-platinum 90s band Smashing Pumpkins, who in 2001 joined forces with Sweeney to form the band Zwan. In the liner notes to the Pumpkins' ''Pisces Iscariot'' LP, Corgan wrote of the song " Frail and Bedazzled" : :''"frail and bedazzled owes a great debt to the band skunk, from whom i ripped part of ...

Laid (song)
"Laid" is the title song from Manchester alternative rock band James's fifth studio album, '' Laid'' (1993). Released on 1 November 1993, the song was a commercial success, charting in the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States, and has received attention as a theme song for the ''American Pie'' film series. Composition and reception Emotionally evocative and featuring the risqué opening lyrics, "This bed is on fire with passionate love, the neighbours complain about the noises above, but she only comes when she's on top", it quickly gained popularity on American college radio and remains the group's best-known song in the United States. The American release of its music video replaced the ending of its opening lyrics with "she only ''sings'' when she's on top" (although Tim Booth is seen to lip-sync the original line, and is accompanied by a subtitle reading "hums"). Today, a number of alternative rock stations, including Boston's RadioBDC, WBOS, Maryland's WRNR-FM, ...
