Kumanovo
Kumanovo ( mk, Куманово ; also known by other #Etymology, alternative names) is a city in North Macedonia and the seat of Kumanovo Municipality, the List of municipalities in the Republic of Macedonia by population, largest municipality in the country. Kumanovo lies Above mean sea level, above sea level and is surrounded by the Karadag part of Skopska Crna Gora mountain on its western side, Gradištanska mountain on its southern side, and Mangovica and German mountain on the Eastern side. Skopje International Airport, Skopje airport also serves Kumanovo. It has many historical sites. One of the most important sites is the 4,000-year-old megalithic astronomical observatory of Kokino, located northeast of Kumanovo and discovered in 2001. Kumanovo Municipality
Kumanovo ( mk, Куманово ; ) is a municipality located in the northern part of North Macedonia. ''Kumanovo'' is also the name of the city where the municipal seat is found. Kumanovo Municipality is part of the Northeastern Statistical Region. Geography The municipality has an area of 509,48 km² and borders Lipkovo Municipality, Ilinden Municipality and Aračinovo Municipality to the west, Serbia to the north, Sveti Nikole Municipality and Petrovec Municipality to the south, and Staro Nagoričane Municipality and Kratovo Municipality to the east. Battle Of Kumanovo
The Battle of Kumanovo ( sr, / , tr, Kumanova Muharebesi), on 23–24 October 1912, was a major battle of the First Balkan War. It was an important Serbian victory over the Ottoman army in the Kosovo Vilayet, shortly after the outbreak of the war. After this defeat, the Ottoman army abandoned the major part of the region, suffering heavy losses in manpower (mostly due to desertions) and in war materiel. Background The objective of the Royal Serbian Army plan was to destroy the Ottoman army in a decisive battle before the Ottomans could complete the mobilisation and concentration of forces. This is a list of cities and towns in North Macedonia. There are 34 cities and towns in North Macedonia. In Macedonian language, Macedonian, every city or town, regardless of size, is called ''grad'' (''град'', Plural, pl. ''gradovi'', ''градови''), but a smaller one can also be called ''gratče'' (''гратче'', pl. ''гратчиња'', ''gratčinja''), a diminutive of ''grad''. Maksim Dimitrievski
Maksim Dimitrievski is the incumbent Mayor of Kumanovo Municipality. Previously he was a member of the City Council, President of the Council of Kumanovo Municipality, and a member of the Assembly of Macedonia. Early life and career Maksim Dimitrievski was born on the 29th of November 1975 in Kumanovo. He finished his primary and secondary education in his hometown and graduated from the Faculty of Law in Skopje. In 2009, he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia, where he began his political career as a young activist. In 2021, he was re-elected as Mayor of Kumanovo as an Independent candidate. Kokino
Kokino ( mk, Кокино) is a Bronze Age archaeological site in the Republic of North Macedonia, approximately 30 km from the town of Kumanovo, and about 6 km from the Serbian border, in the Staro Nagoričane Municipality. It is situated between about 1010 and 1030 m above sea level on the Tatićev Kamen (Татиќев камен) summit and covers an area of about 90 by 50 meters, overlooking the eponymous hamlet of Kokino. It was discovered by archeologist Jovica Stankovski, director of the national museum in Kumanovo, in 2001. In 2002, Stankovski together with Gorje Cenev (who is the head of a planetarium at Youth Cultural Centerin Skopje) published the claim that the site contains a "megalithic observatory and sacred site" (мегалитска опсерваторија и светилиште). The municipalities are the first-order administrative divisions of North Macedonia. North Macedonia is currently organized into 80 municipalities ( mk, општини, ''opštini''; singular: општина, ''opština,'' Albanian: ''komunat''; singular: ''komuna''), established in February 2013; 10 of the municipalities constitute the City of Skopje (or Greater Skopje), a distinct unit of local self-governance and the country's capital.
