Krøyt Members
Krøyt (established 1993 in Trondheim, Norway) was a Norwegian jazz band, known from several album releases. Biography Krøyt was an experimental musical adventure, exploring subtile elements of different musical landscapes. They can not be framed as «jazz», «rock» or «electronica», although you can find elements from all of these genres. They sprang out of the music scene on the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (NTNU). They released their acclaimed debut album ''Sub'' in 1997, and the followup ''Low'' (1999) was met with excellent reviews, and it also won the Spellemannprisen in 1999 in the Open class. In a collaborative effort with the Swedish band Fläskkvartetten, they elaborated the commission for Moldejazz 2001. The EP album ''Body electrics'' (2001) include the song «Silent», awarded Edvard Prize 2000. For the «Vinterspillene» they composed «Frozen waterfall». Nils Petter Molvær () also known as NPM (born 18 September 1960) is a Norwegian jazz trumpeter, composer, and record producer. He is considered a pioneer of future jazz, a genre that fuses jazz and electronic music, best showcased on his most commercially successful album, '' Khmer''. Biography Molvær was born and raised on the island of Sula, Møre og Romsdal, Norway, and left at age nineteen to study on the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (1980–82). He joined the bands Jazzpunkensemblet with Jon Eberson and Masqualero, alongside Arild Andersen, Jon Christensen and Tore Brunborg. Masqualero (named after a Wayne Shorter composition originally recorded by Miles Davis) recorded several albums for ECM Records, and Molvær recorded with other ECM artists before his 1997 debut solo album, ''Khmer''. Jens Christian Bugge Wesseltoft (born 1 February 1964) is a Norwegian jazz pianist, composer, and producer, son of jazz guitarist Erik Wesseltoft. Career In 1989, Wesseltoft collaborated with the Knut Riisnæs Quartet and was soon after contacted by Arild Andersen to join in on commissioned work for Vossajazz—released on the album ''Sagn'' (1990)—and the follow-up ''Arv'' (1993). He worked with Jan Garbarek on his ''Molde Canticle'', a commission from Moldejazz, released on the 1990 album ''I Took Up the Runes''. Sidsel Endresen
Sidsel Endresen (born 19 June 1952) is a Norwegian singer, composer, and actress. She was part of the Jon Eberson group. Since 1987, Endresen has pursued a successful solo career, recording for ECM. Career Endresen was one of the most pronounced female jazz musicians in Norway in the beginning of the 21st century. She is a versatile artist, who likes to challenge her voice with new experimental forms and combination of jazz and other artistic expressions. Her work has moved from "fusion" and "chamber jazz" in the 1980s and 1990s, to improvisational "new" musical forms in the mid 1990s until today. She has also moved from larger formats to explore solo, duo and trio formats. Øyvind Brandtsegg
Øyvind Brandtsegg (born 16 February 1971 in Steinkjer, Norway) is a Norwegian musician (percussion, electronica), programmer and composer, known from a series of recordings, and collaborations with such bands as Motorpsycho and Krøyt. Career Brandtsegg studied music at the "Sund folkehøgskole" (Sund Folk High School) in Inderøy. He studied the vibraphone at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and created a music software program called ImproSculpt, which samples different tones from the environment (including via body sensors) at the same time the music is performed, processes them and generates ever-changing variations in real time. He plays an instrument called the Marimba Lumina, a MIDI-based marimba which allows the players movements affect the sound. Kristin Asbjørnsen (born 12 May 1971) is a Norwegian jazz singer and composer whose focus is on improvised music.
