Wisteria
''Wisteria'' is a genus of flowering plants in the legume family, Fabaceae (Leguminosae), that includes ten species of woody twining vines that are native to China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Southern Canada, the Eastern United States, and north of Iran. They were later introduced to France, Germany and various other countries in Europe. Some species are popular ornamental plants. The aquatic flowering plant commonly called wisteria or 'water wisteria' is in fact ''Hygrophila difformis'', in the family Acanthaceae. Etymology The botanist Thomas Nuttall said he named the genus ''Wisteria'' in memory of the American physician and anatomist Caspar Wistar (1761–1818). Both men were living in Philadelphia at the time, where Wistar was a professor in the School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Nobutake Kondō
was an admiral in the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. As commander of IJN 2nd Fleet, the Navy's principal detached force for independent operations, Kondō was regarded as second in importance only to Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto. Biography Early life and career Kondō was a native of Osaka. He graduated at the head of his class of 172 cadets from the 35th session of the Imperial Japanese Navy Academy in 1907. As a midshipman he served on the cruiser ''Itsukushima'' and battleship ''Mikasa''. After his commissioning as ensign, he was assigned to the cruiser ''Aso'', destroyer ''Kisaragi'' and battleship ''Kongō''. From 1912-1913, he was a naval attaché to the United Kingdom. Yoshio Kondo
Yoshio Kondo (1910, on Maui, Hawaii - 1990, on Oahu, Hawaii) was an American biologist and malacologist. He spent virtually his entire life in Hawaii, with the exception of a number of collecting expeditions, primarily to islands in the Pacific Ocean (including the Mangarevan Expedition in 1934). Kondo had been trained as an electrician and was the chief engineer aboard the ''Myojin Maru'' at the time the boat was chartered for Bishop Museum's Mangarevan Expedition. Dr Cooke, the leader of the expedition, had been impressed by Kondo's interest in land shells that he was later hired as Assistant Malacologist at the museum. Kondo later enrolled at University of Hawai'i and received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors. He then studied at Harvard University, where he received a Ph.D. under the direction of William J. Yoshifumi Kondō
was a Japanese animator who worked for Studio Ghibli in his last years. He was born in Gosen, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. He worked as an animation director on ''Anne of Green Gables'', ''Sherlock Hound'', ''Kiki's Delivery Service'', '' Only Yesterday'' and ''Princess Mononoke''. Kondō directed the animated film ''Whisper of the Heart'', and was expected to become one of the top directors at Studio Ghibli, alongside Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, and to become their eventual successor. Tsuruyo Kondo
Tsuruyo Kondo (November 16, 1901 – August 9, 1970) was a Japanese politician. Biography Kondo was born in Niimi, Okayama prefecture on November 16, 1901. In 1924 she graduated from the Japan Women's University and began working at two schools in Okayama, the Sanyo Koto Jogakko and the Okayama-ken Daiichi Okayama Koto Jogakko. She taught manners and home economics. After World War II, Kondo's brother, a politician affiliated with the Japan Progressive Party named Kotani Setsuo, was purged in 1946. This purge prevented him from running for office. Kondo ran in his stead without a party to represent Okayama prefecture in the House of Representatives. Toshinori Kondo
was a Japanese avant-garde jazz and jazz fusion trumpeter. Career Kondo was born in Ehime Prefecture. He attended Kyoto university in 1967, and became close friends with percussionist Tsuchitori Toshiyuki. In 1972 the pair left university, and Toshiyuki went on to work with Peter Brook, while Kondo joined Yosuke Yamashita. In 1978 he moved to New York, and began performing with Bill Laswell, John Zorn, Fred Frith, and Eraldo Bernocchi. Tomio Kondō
__NOTOC__ was an amateur photographer who lived on and energetically photographed Sado island in the Sea of Japan. Kondō was born to a landowning family in Kanazawa village (subsequently part of Kanai, which in turn was amalgamated within "Sado City"). He started with a camera at 18, and also had a keen interest in archaeology. Kondō photographed landscapes and a great variety of life on the island, as well as the figures from literary and artistic circles on the mainland who came to visit during the infancy of Sado's tourism industry. He financed this by gradually selling off land owned by the family. Kondō was keen to keep up with the latest news on the island. is a Japanese professional wrestler. Prior to becoming a pro wrestler, he played rugby. After starting his career in Toryumon, Kondo eventually joined All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), where he became one of the promotion's top junior heavyweights, winning the World Junior Heavyweight Championship three times and the All Asia Tag Team Championship once. Upon leaving AJPW in 2013, Kondo joined Wrestle-1, where he became half of the inaugural Wrestle-1 Tag Team Champions.
