KDE Education Project
The KDE Education Project (or KDE-Edu project) develops Free software, free educational software based on the KDE Platform, KDE technologies for students and parents. These educational software is translated into more than 65 languages, so that users can access them without any problems. The KDE-Edu project also provides free software educational to support and facilitate teachers in planning lessons. The KDE-Edu project is available for Berkeley Software Distribution, BSD and Linux; Microsoft Windows support is in beta. History The KDE-Edu project was started in July 2001. The goal of the project is to develop Free Educational Software (GNU General Public License) within the KDE environment. This software is mainly aimed to schools, to students and to parents at home as well as to adults willing to extend their knowledge. Plotter
A plotter is a machine that produces vector graphics drawings. Plotters draw lines on paper using a pen, or in some applications, use a knife to cut a material like Polyvinyl chloride, vinyl or leather. In the latter case, they are sometimes known as a cutting plotter. In the past, plotters were used in applications such as computer-aided design, as they were able to produce line drawings much faster and of a higher quality than contemporary conventional printers. Smaller desktop plotters were often used for business graphics. Printers with graphics capabilities took away some of the market by the early 1980s, and the introduction of laser printers in the mid-1980s largely eliminated the use of plotters from most roles. KmPlot
KmPlot is a mathematical function plotter for the KDE Desktop bundled with the rest of the KDE Applications. The program is recommended for high school and college use. KmPlot came bundled with Edubuntu. Functions KmPlot has a built in parser. Created graphs can be colored and the view can be scaled. It supports graphing multiple functions simultaneously. It also provides some numerical and visual features like filling and calculating the area between the plot and the first axis, finding maximum and minimum values, changing function parameters dynamically, and plotting derivatives and integral functions. Kig (software)
KIG is free and open-source interactive geometry software, which is part of the KDE Education Project. It has some facilities for scripting in Python, as well as the creating macros from existing constructions. KAlgebra
KAlgebra is a mathematical graph calculator included in the KDE education package. While it is based on the MathML content markup language, knowledge of MathML is not required for use. The calculator includes numerical, logical, symbolic, and analytical functions, and can plot the results onto a 2D or 3D graph.
