K-1 is a professional kickboxing promotion established in 1993, well known worldwide mainly for its heavyweight division fights and Grand Prix tournaments. In January 2012, K-1 Global Holdings Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong, acquired the rights to K-1, and is the current organizer of K-1 events worldwide. Founded in 1993 by karateka Kazuyoshi Ishii, at its height in the late 90s and the 2000s under the ownership of the Fighting and Entertainment Group (FEG), K-1 was the largest and most prestigious "Kickboxing" organization in the world. Takeru Segawa
is a Japanese kickboxer. He is the former K-1 Super Featherweight champion, K-1 Featherweight champion and K-1 Super Bantamweight champion. He is the only three weight champion in K-1 history. A generational talent, Takeru is considered to be one of the greatest kickboxers in the modern history of the sport, alongside his compatriot Tenshin Nasukawa. A professional competitor since 2008, Segawa became the K-1 Super Bantamweight champion when he defeated Taiga Kawabe in the finals of the 2015 K-1 Super Bantamweight Grand Prix, on April 19, 2015. Tatsuya Tsubakihara
is a Japanese kickboxer, currently fighting in the featherweight division of K-1. He is the former List of K-1 champions#K-1 Featherweight Championship, K-1 featherweight champion, having held the title in 2021. As of July 2022, he is ranked the #3 Super Flyweight in the world by Combat Press. He's been ranked in the division's top ten since October 2020, peaking at #2. Kickboxing career Amateur career At the age of 13, Tsubakihara participated in the Kyoken Junior Kikcboxing tournament. He would win the Kyoken Middleweight title with decision victories over Taiga Imanaga and Taiki Kiyama in the semifinals and finals respectively. Leona Pettas
is a Japanese kickboxer, currently competing in the super featherweight division of K-1, where he is the Super Featherweight champion. He took the family name of his first trainer Karateka Nicholas Pettas. Pettas is the 2022 K-1 Super Featherweight World Grand Prix winner, the former Krush Super Featherweight champion and a one-time K-1 super featherweight title challenger. He was ranked as a top ten bantamweight by Combat Press between September 2020 and July 2022, peaking at #2. Kensaku Maeda
Kensaku Maeda is a Japanese former professional Kickboxer, former K-1 WORLD GP Japan producer. He is also renowned as the founder and head trainer of the successful kickboxing gym Team Dragon. Biography Early Years In his youth Maeda was fan of Tiger Mask and Bruce Lee's movies which sparked his interest in martial arts, he later joined the Caesar Gym in Tokyo. K-1 PREMIUM Dynamite!! (or Dynamite!!) was an annual kickboxing and mixed martial arts event held in Japan by the Fighting and Entertainment Group. It began as a co-production between PRIDE Fighting Championships and K-1 held on August 28, 2002. The event was called ''K-1 Dynamite!'' by K-1 and ''Pride Shockwave, PRIDE Shockwave'' by PRIDE Fighting Championships', though in Japan it was simply called ''Dynamite!''. The live audience totaled 91,108 people, and is the largest on record for either organization or any professional fighting event. Eduard "Edi" Irimia (born July 10, 1974) is a Romanian kickboxing promoter, television producer and businessman. He is the founder and CEO of Superkombat Fighting Championship (Superkombat) and has promoted some of the most prominent names in kickboxing. It's Showtime (kickboxing)
"It's Showtime" is a defunct kickboxing and mixed martial arts promotion based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was founded by Simon Rutz in 1998 and held its first show in 1999 and its last near the end of 2012. History It's Showtime events were cross-promoted with K-1 and other European promotions from Italy, Belgium and England. In December 2007, the first season of ''It’s Showtime Reality Show'' was broadcast on Eurosport, featuring 19 fighters from all over the world. K-1 partnership continued until K-1's deepening financial problems and Simon Rutz claimed in January 2011 that some fighters from It's Showtime had not been paid for fights in K-1.
