George Weah
George Tawlon Manneh Oppong Ousman Weah (; born 1 October 1966) is a Liberian politician and former professional footballer who is the incumbent president of Liberia, in office since 2018. Prior to his election to the presidency, Weah served as Senator from Montserrado County. He played as a striker in his prolific 18-year professional football career, which ended in 2003. He is the first African former professional footballer to become a head of state. After beginning his career in his native Liberia, Weah spent 14 years playing for clubs in France, Italy and England. Arsène Wenger first brought him to Europe, signing him for Monaco in 1988. Weah moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 1992 where they won the Ligue 1 in 1994 and became the top scorer of the 1994–95 UEFA Champions League. Liberian Second Division
The Liberian Second Division League is the second tier of Liberian football. Structure At present, there are eighteen clubs that compete in the Liberian Second Division League. Those eighteen clubs are divided into two zones of ten teams (Zone A) and eight teams (Zone B) playing each other in a home and away series within their respective zones. At the end of the season, the bottom four teams from Zone A and the bottom three teams from Zone B are relegated to the LFA Sub-Committee Leagues (3rd Division). The top team from each zones gain automatic promotion. However, teams positioned second in each zones take part in a promotion play-off. Zizi Roberts
Kolubah "Zizi" Roberts (born 19 July 1979) is a Liberian former professional footballer. He began his professional career in 1996 at the age of 17 and played for teams in Liberia, the United States, Switzerland, Greece, and Italy. Club career In 1997, Roberts signed for A.C. Milan but never played an official match for them, appearing in friendly competitions and being loaned out to Monza in 1997, Ravenna in 1998, and AC Bellinzona for the first half of the 1999–2000 season. In January 2000, he signed for Greek side Ionikos FC, finishing out the season before moving to Panionios FC at the start of the following season. In August 2001, he signed with Olympiakos FC, where he found relative success, scoring five times in just eight appearances. Liberian Premier League
The Liberian First Division, formerly known as Liberian Premier League, is the highest division of football in Liberia. The first division league began in 1956 and have only once been won by a club outside Monrovia. It has been dominated by Mighty Barrolle FC and Invincible Eleven FC. The league is organized by the ''Liberia Football Association''. In 2010, the league became known as the Orange Premier League for sponsorship reasons and it is now called LFA-Orange First Division League. Sponsorship In March 2010, Cellcom GSM, a telecommunications corporation in Liberia and Guinea contracted a three-year sponsorship deal with the League until the end of the 2012/13 season. Liberian Cup
The Liberian Football Association Cup, commonly known as the LFA Cup and currently known as the PetroTrade Cup due to sponsorship reasons, is an annual knockout cup competition in Liberian football. The LFA Cup is run by and named after the Liberia Football Association and usually refers to the Liberian men's tournament, although a LFA Women's Cup is also held. The LFA Cup was first held in 1974 with Mighty Barrolle being crowned the first champions. Entry is open to all teams who compete in the Liberian First and Second Divisions. The reigning champions is LISCR FC, who defeated Tony FC in the 2022 final. Format The competition is a knockout tournament with pairings for each round drawn at random. There are no seeds and the draw for each round is not made until after the scheduled dates for the previous round. The draw also determines which teams will play at home.
