Judo At The 2015 Pan American Games
Judo competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto were held from July 11 to 14 at the Hershey Centre (Mississauga Sports Centre) in Mississauga. Due to naming rights the arena was known as the latter for the duration of the games. A total of fourteen judo events were held: seven each for men and women. Competition schedule The following was the competition schedule for the judo competitions: Medal table Medalists Men's events Women's events Participating nations A total of 19 countries have qualified athletes. The number of athletes a nation has entered is in parentheses beside the name of the country. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Qualification A total of 140 judokas (ten per weight category) will qualify to compete at the games. There will be six qualification events for athletes to earn ranking points, and the top nine nations qualify per event. Paramount Fine Foods Centre
The Paramount Fine Foods Centre, formerly the Hershey Centre, is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment complex located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Its current name was adopted on July 1, 2018, following a new naming rights agreement with Mississauga-based restaurant chain Paramount Fine Foods. History First opened in 1998 as the Hershey Centre, the complex is located on Rose Cherry Place, which was named after the late wife of Don Cherry, founder and former owner of the Mississauga IceDogs hockey team. The closest major intersection is Kennedy Road and Matheson Boulevard East. In 2007, a new multi-sport facility called SportZone opened just to the north of the main bowl. It houses a full-size indoor soccer field, a full size FIBA basketball court, a gymnastics facility, and two outdoor soccer fields. Felipe Kitadai
Felipe Kitadai (born July 28, 1989) is a judoka from Brazil. He won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics and a gold at the 2011 Pan American Games. He also won gold medals six consecutive times in the Pan American Games Judo Championships: at 2011 Guadalaraja, 2012 Montreal, 2013 San José, 2014 Guayaquil, 2015 Edmonton and 2016 Havana. Judo career Kitadai was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and is a member of the athletic club Barueri in São Paulo and the club Sogipa. He is coached on the Brazil national team by Luis Shinohara and Mario Tsutsui. In 2009, Kitadai, who is Jewish, won a bronze medal in the 2009 Maccabiah Games in Tel Aviv, Israel, at U60, beating American Lindsey Durlacher along the way.
