James Maxwell Moody, Sr. (born February 15, 1940) is a retired United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. Education and career Moody was born in El Dorado, Arkansas. He received a Bachelor of Science in Information Management degree from the University of Arkansas in 1962. He received a Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1964 and passed the Arkansas bar examination in the same year. He received a commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Army in June 1962 upon graduation from college. He served at Fort Sill, Oklahoma from September to November 1964, and then with the Second Armored Division from November 1964 to September 1966 at Fort Hood, Texas. In 1976, he taught constitutional law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. From 1980 to 1988, he served as a stockholder and later director of a catering company. James Tyne Moody (born June 6, 1938) is a senior United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. Education and career Born in LaCenter, Kentucky, Moody received an Artium Baccalaureus degree from Indiana University Bloomington in 1960 and a Bachelor of Laws from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 1963. He was in private practice in Hobart, Indiana from 1964 to 1972. He was a city attorney of Hobart and Lake Station, Indiana from 1964 to 1973, and then of East Gary, Indiana from 1966 to 1970. He was a superior court judge for Lake County, Indiana from 1972 to 1979, when he became a United States magistrate judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, a position he held until 1982. James Moody (composer)
James Moody (1907–1995) (not to be confused with American saxophonist James Moody) was a Belfast-born pianist, arranger and composer best known for his music for classical harmonica, including twenty-two works for harmonica and piano, three works for harmonica and strings, eight works for harmonica and orchestra, and some two dozen other works for instrumental combinations such as harmonica and harp, harmonica and string quartet, and harmonica ensemble. He also arranged a lot of other music for harmonica, for example Irish, Scottish, English, and Norwegian folk melodies. Moody gained his first recognition as a pianist, and from the age of thirteen was earning a good living playing in cinemas for silent films in his native town Belfast. He also wrote arrangements for and played piano in the Belfast-based Philip Whiteway Ensemble. In 1938 Moody moved to England, joining BBC Bristol as a piano soloist, accompanist, and arranger. James Moody (saxophonist)
James Moody (March 26, 1925 – December 9, 2010) was an American jazz saxophone and flute player and very occasional vocalist, playing predominantly in the bebop and hard bop styles. Moody had an unexpected hit with "Moody's Mood for Love," a 1952 song written by Eddie Jefferson that used as its melody an improvised solo that Moody had played on a 1949 recording of "I'm in the Mood for Love." Moody adopted the song as his own, recording it with Jefferson on his 1956 album ''Moody's Mood for Love'' and performing the song regularly in concert, often singing the vocals himself. Early life James Moody was born in Savannah, Georgia, United States, and was raised by his (single) mother, Ruby Hann Moody Watters. He had a brother, Louis. James Moody ( – April 6, 1809) was a loyalist volunteer during the American Revolution who became a farmer and political figure in Nova Scotia. He represented Annapolis County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1793 to 1806. He wrote one of the most important loyalist memoires of the war. Career He was born in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, on January 1, 1744, the son of John Moody. His first wife was Elizabeth Brittain (1748–1782). James and Elizabeth had three children including a son John born March 6, 1768, and a daughter Maria born on February 28, 1775. Records for the other child have been lost. James Powers Moody (September 2, 1935March 22, 2019) was an American economist and Democratic politician. He served five terms as the U.S. representative for Wisconsin's 5th congressional district (1983–1993). At the time, the 5th congressional district comprised the north half of Milwaukee County, including much of the city of Milwaukee. Earlier in his career, he represented downtown Milwaukee in the Wisconsin State Senate and Assembly. James Leith Moody (1816–1896) was a British clergyman who served as Chaplain to the Royal Navy in China, and to the British Army in the Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Malta, and Crimea.
