Jaco Island ( pt, Ilha de Jaco, tet, Illa Jako, Fataluku: or ) is an uninhabited island in East Timor, a country occupying the eastern end of the island of Timor in the Lesser Sunda Islands in Southeast Asia. It lies within the Nino Konis Santana National Park. Overview Jaco Island lies just off the eastern end of the island of Timor, part of the Tutuala subdistrict in Lautém District, and is separated from the mainland in front of Valu Beach by a channel or strait (known as Jaco Strait) navigable by small vessels. The island, the beach and the channel are sometimes said to be the points where Timor meets the boundary between the Banda Sea (including Wetar Strait) to the north and Timor Sea to the south. Charles Jaco (born August 21, 1950) is an American journalist and author, best known for his coverage of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait and the ensuing Gulf War. Jaco was born August 21, 1950 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Chicago in 1973 and earned a master's degree from Columbia University in 1976. In 1976, he began his broadcast career with WXRT radio in Chicago, Illinois. He worked for NBC Radio from 1979 until 1988. In 1987, he was badly beaten by the security forces of Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega. In late 1988, he became a correspondent for CNN. In 1989, while covering allegations of electoral fraud by the Panamanian government, Jaco was visited by vigilantes of Noriega. He fled the country with the aid of the U.S. military. Jaco Phillipus van Zyl (born 23 February 1979) is a professional golfer from South Africa. Career Van Zyl was born in Pretoria. He won the South African Amateur Championship (golf), South African Amateur in 2000 and turned professional the following year, immediately joining the Sunshine Tour. He won for the first time on the tour at the Platinum Classic in 2005. In 2007, van Zyl played on the PGA Tour, having gained his card at the 2006 qualifying school. His films especially focus on a respectful and sympathetic portrayal of people with mental and physical disabilities.
