Interstate Highways In Georgia (U.S. State)
The Interstate Highways in Georgia comprise seven current primary Interstate Highways and eight auxiliary Interstates. In addition, two primary Interstates are currently under proposal, and Atlanta freeway revolts, three auxiliary Interstates were once proposed and then cancelled. Each Interstate has a hidden state route number; for example, Interstate 75 in Georgia, Interstate 75 (I-75) is also State Route 401 (SR 401) and Interstate 16 (I-16) is also State Route 404 (SR 404, the Jim Gillis Historic Savannah Parkway). Cordele, Georgia
Cordele is a city in and the county seat of Crisp County, Georgia, United States. The population was 11,147 at the 2010 census. Cordele calls itself the Watermelon Capital of the World. History Cordele was incorporated on January 1, 1888, and named for Cordelia Hawkins, eldest daughter of Colonel Samuel Hawkins, the president of the Savannah, Americus and Montgomery Railway. In November 1864, the area that is now Cordele served as the temporary capital of Georgia. During the last days of the Confederacy, Georgia's war governor Joseph E. Brown used his rural farmhouse to escape the wrath of Sherman's March to the Sea. During that time, the farmhouse, which Brown called "Dooly County Place," served as the official capital for only a few days. It was replaced in 1890 by the Suwanee Hotel, located in what became downtown Cordele. The hotel was destroyed by a fire in late 1994 and was rebuilt. Cordele was founded in 1888 by J.E.D. Albany ( ) is a city in the U.S. state of Georgia. Located on the Flint River, it is the seat of Dougherty County, and is the sole incorporated city in that county. Interstate 95 (I-95) is a major Interstate Highway, running along the East Coast of the United States from Florida to Maine. In South Carolina, I-95 runs approximately parallel to the Atlantic Ocean shore although about inland, from Hardeeville in the south to Dillon in the northeast. The route runs through the cities of Florence and Walterboro. Route description For the most part, the drive is fairly benign, passing through the pine forests, farmlands, and blackwater streams and swamps of the Atlantic Plain. Interstate 95 (I-95) is the main Interstate Highway of Florida's Atlantic Coast. It begins at a partial interchange with U.S. Highway 1 (US 1) just south of downtown Miami, and heads north past Daytona Beach, through Jacksonville, and to the Georgia state line at the St. Marys River near Becker. Wildwood is a unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located in the northeastern corner of Dade County, Georgia, United States. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 382. Description The community is close to the Tennessee state line and the Chattanooga city limits, and is considered part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area.
