Hounds (comics)
Hounds are the name given to several fictional groups of mutant characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The Hounds first appeared in ''Uncanny X-Men'' #141 (1981). They are mutants from a dystopian alternate future, brainwashed to hunt and capture other mutants for imprisonment in government internment camps. History Days of Future Past The Hounds were first introduced in ''Uncanny X-Men'', from the "Days of Future Past" dystopian timeline, as part of the backstory of Rachel Summers. These brainwashed mutant hunters were created and commanded by the cyborg Ahab, who used them to hunt down and imprison mutants in concentration camps. Summers was forced to become one of these Hounds while still an adolescent, which scarred and haunted her for years afterward. Eventually she broke her conditioning and rebelled. ''Hounds'' is a New Zealand television comedy series, written, produced and directed by The Down Low Concept. Set in Auckland, New Zealand it centres on a self-centred lawyer, Will Carrington (Toby Sharpe), and the unusual family unit he is thrust into following the death of his father David, (Roy Billing). A hound is a type of hunting dog used by hunters to track or chase prey. Description Hounds can be contrasted with gun dogs that assist hunters by identifying prey and/or recovering shot quarry. The hound breeds were the first hunting dogs. They have either a powerful sense of smell, great speed, or both. There are three types of hound, with several breeds type: * Sighthounds (also called ''gazehounds'') follow prey predominantly by speed, keeping it in sight. These dogs are fast and assist hunters in catching game: fox, hare, deer, and elk. * Scenthounds follow prey or others (like missing people) by tracking its scent. The Hound
"The Hound" is a short story written by H. P. Lovecraft in September 1922 and published in the February 1924 issue of ''Weird Tales''. It contains the first mention of Lovecraft's fictional text the '' Necronomicon.'' Plot The story opens with the unnamed narrator preparing to commit suicide. Lamenting his fate, he reflects upon the events which led him to this moment. The narrator and his friend, St. John, are a pair of loners who both have a deranged interest in robbing graves. They constantly defile crypts and often keep souvenirs of their nocturnal expeditions. Since they reside in the same house, they have the opportunity to set up a sort of morbid museum in their basement. Using the objects collected from the various graves they have robbed, the two men organize a private exhibition. John Robert Constantine (born September 3, 1986), known professionally as The Hound is a Los Angeles based singer, songwriter, and record producer. Early life Constantine was born in Los Angeles and was raised by his mother in the suburb of Santa Clarita. He studied voice and guitar at a young age and attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, one of the top 5 art high schools in the U.S. studying voice, composition, and opera. While many of his peers went on to conservatory, Constantine went to Musicians Institute for Music Business, Audio Engineering and Production. History The Hound was designed as a two-seat general purpose biplane, a private venture to meet Air Ministry Specification 12/26. The prototype ''G-EBNJ'' first flew on 17 November 1926. It was of all-wooden construction, powered by a Napier Lion engine. In 1927, the nose and rudder were modified, it was fitted with a geared engine and received the modified designation DH.65A.
