Holbæk municipality is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in northwestern Region Sjælland on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in Denmark. The municipality includes the island of Orø, and covers an area of 583 km², and has a total population of 69,010 (2008). Its mayor is Christina Krzyrosiak Hansen, a member of the Social Democrats (Denmark) and the youngest mayor ever in Denmark. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the city of Holbæk. On 1 January 2007 Holbæk municipality was, as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), merged with existing Jernløse, Svinninge, Tornved, and Tølløse municipalities to form a new Holbæk municipality. Isefjord
Ise Fjord ( da, Isefjorden) is a deeply branched arm of the sea into the Danish island Zealand. From its relatively narrow entrance from the Kattegat at Hundested and Rørvig, branches of Ise Fjord stretch 35 km inland and divide the northern part of Zealand into the peninsulas of Odsherred, Hornsherred, and Nordsjælland. Some branches have names of their own, such as Roskilde Fjord which joins Ise Fjord proper close to its northern end, Lejre Vig in Lejre Municipality just west of Roskilde harbor, Holbæk Fjord, and the now drained Lammefjord and Sidinge Fjord at the west. The depth of the water in the fjord averages 5 to 7 meters, the deepest areas being those on the western side of Orø. Salinity is from 1.6 to 2.2%. Vestsjællands Lokalbaner A/S (literally ''The Local Railways of West Zealand'', abbreviated VL) was a Danish railway company. It existed from 2003 to 2009. History A merger of Odsherreds Jernbane A/S (OHJ) and Høng-Tølløse Jernbane A/S (HTJ), VL was established in May 2003 after several years of close cooperation between the two companies.
