A board game is a type of tabletop game that involves small objects () that are placed and moved in particular ways on a specially designed patterned game board, potentially including other components, e.g. dice. Limestone
Limestone is a type of carbonate rock, carbonate sedimentary rock which is the main source of the material Lime (material), lime. Petteia
Polis () was an ancient Greek board game. One of the earliest known strategy games, polis was a wargame resembling checkers. Its name appears in the Ancient Greek literature from around 450 BC to the 2nd century BC, and it seems to have been widely known in the region, particularly in Athens. The original rules of the game have been only partially preserved. History As with many ancient games, not much is known about polis, including where, when, and by whom it was invented. The earliest known reference to polis comes from Cratinos, an Athenian comedic poet, in his comedy '' Drapetides'' ("Female Runaways"), from 443/442 BC. The game was praised by Plato and Polybius, and possibly Philostratus, "as a game of strategy requiring great tactical skill". It was also likely referred to by Aristotle and Socrates.
