Hermann Trophy
The Hermann Trophy is awarded annually by the Missouri Athletic Club to the United States's top men's and women's college soccer players. History In 1967, Bob Hermann, the president of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the NPSL's successor, the North American Soccer League, established a trophy to annually recognize the top men's collegiate soccer player. The trophy, which was first announced in the December 9, 1967 issue of '' The Sporting News'', was named the Hermann Trophy and has been awarded each year since. In 1988, a second Hermann Trophy was inaugurated to recognize the top women's collegiate player of the year. In 1986, the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) began naming an annual player of the year as a rival to the Hermann Trophy. Duncan MacAllister McGuire (born February 5, 2001) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Major League Soccer club Orlando City and the United States national team. Marcus Garin Tracy (born October 2, 1986, in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania) is an American soccer player who plays as a striker. Career College and amateur Although born in Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia, Tracy grew up in Newtown, CT, playing soccer at Newtown High School where he was named an All-American (and had his #3 jersey retired) and was a member of the 2004 Class LL Connecticut State Championship team. Darlington Joephillip Nagbe (born July 19, 1990) is a professional association football, soccer player who plays as a midfielder for and captains Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew. Born in Liberia, he played for the United States men's national soccer team, United States national team. James Andrew Wenger (born December 25, 1990) is an American former professional soccer player who played for eight seasons in Major League Soccer. College and amateur career Wenger made an immediate impact in his first year at Duke University. He started in all 21 matches, and finished with four goals and three assists in a team-leading 1,896 minutes of action. In 2010, Wenger started in all of Duke's matches at center back and was a semi-finalist for the Hermann Trophy. In 2011, Wenger moved from center back to forward. A left-footed forward, he was a two-time winner of the Hermann Trophy as the top men's college soccer player and was the leading scorer in NCAA Division I soccer in 2013. Leo Stolz (born 15 February 1991) is a German former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Youth and college Stolz began his career playing at SV Pullach. Jordan Perry Morris (born October 26, 1994) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a winger or forward for Major League Soccer club Seattle Sounders FC and the United States national team. He grew up on Mercer Island, Washington, and joined the Sounders youth academy before playing college soccer at Stanford University.
