Grupo Empresarial Ángeles (GEA) is a Mexican corporation owned by Olegario Vázquez Raña and founded in 1998. It owns assets in the communications, healthcare, tourism and financial services industries. Its director general is Olegario Vázquez Aldir. History GEA was formally founded in 1998 by Vázquez Raña, though its history dates to 1986 and the acquisition of Hospital Humana (now Hospital Ángeles de Pedregal). GEA has grown rapidly through acquisitions, particularly in the 2000s and 2010s. 1999 saw it acquire the Camino Real hotel chain, which formed the cornerstone of its tourism and hospitality business. In 2003, it bought Grupo Imagen. 2006 saw the acquisition of Multiva, its financial services unit, and of the ''Excélsior'' newspaper and channel 28 in Mexico City, the precursor to its Imagen Televisión national network. Olegario Vázquez Raña
Olegario Vázquez Raña (born 10 December 1935) is a Mexican entrepreneur, businessman, owner of several companies, and the chairman and principal shareholder of Grupo Empresarial Ángeles. He is married to María de los Angeles Aldir and he is the father of Olegario Vázquez Aldir, one of the richest businessman in Mexico. Olegario Vázquez Aldir (born April 28, 1972, Mexico City) is a Mexican businessman and the director general of Grupo Empresarial Ángeles. With an estimated private net worth of 5.6 billion dollars as of 2022. Life Vázquez Aldir was born to Olegario Vázquez Raña, the founder of GEA, and María de los Ángeles Aldir. He received an undergraduate degree in business administration from the Universidad Iberoamericana and a master's degree in healthcare administration from Boston University in the United States. XHTRES-TDT was a full-power television station in Mexico City, Mexico, broadcasting in digital on UHF channel 27. From 2006 to 2015, it was the flagship station of the now defunct network cadenatres and from 2013 to 2020, it was the flagship station of the Excélsior TV news network. It is licensed to Compañía Internacional de Radio y Televisión, S.A. Imagen Televisión is a national broadcast television network in Mexico, owned by Grupo Imagen. It launched on October 17, 2016, at 8 p.m. History Imagen on television In 2006, Imagen's parent, Grupo Empresarial Ángeles, acquired XHRAE-TV channel 28 in Mexico City from its previous owner, beleaguered businessman Raúl Aréchiga Espinoza, for US$126 million. ''Excélsior'' is a daily newspaper in Mexico City. It is the second oldest paper in the city after '' El Universal'', printing its first issue on March 18, 1917. Camino Real Hotels is a Mexican-based hotel chain that operates 18 hotels in Mexico. History The first hotel to use the Camino Real name was the Camino Real Guadalajara, opened in 1958. The name of the hotel was taken from that given by 16th century Spaniards to the road that led to the capital of New Spain, today known as Mexico.
