The largest species, the thorny tinselfish ''Grammicolepis brachiusculus'', the thorny tinselfish, is a species of tinselfish found in deep oceanic waters at depths of from . This species grows to a length of TL. This species is the only known member of its genus Genus ( plural g ..., ''Grammicolepis brachiusculus'', grows up to long. They are found in isolated areas of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, where they inhabit deep waters: they have been found down to about . They are rarely caught in trawls.
