Government House, Chișinău
The Government House ( ro, Casa Guvernului ) is a building in Chișinău of the Government of Moldova located on Great National Assembly Square and Stefan cel Mare Avenue. It was designed by Semyon Fridlin in 1964 on Victory Square (now PMAN) and along Lenin Avenue (now Stefan cel Mare Avenue). It used to be the headquarters of the Council of Ministers of the Moldovan SSR. The building is a 6-storey reinforced concrete structure, lined with white stone, made in the shape of a letter Russian letter ''П'' (translated to ''P'' in English). Above the main entrance to the building is the inscription "The Government of the Republic of Moldova", as well as the coat of arms of Moldova and the flag of Moldova. The politics of Moldova take place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic republic, wherein the prime minister is the head of the Government of Moldova, and a multi-party system. The President of Moldova has no important powers. The government exercises executive power while the legislative power is vested in the Parliament. ''Adevărul'' (; meaning "The Truth", formerly spelled ''Adevĕrul'') is a Romanian daily newspaper, based in Bucharest. The Gavrilița Cabinet () is the incumbent Cabinet of Moldova, led by former Finance Minister Natalia Gavrilița. It took office on 6 August 2021. Gavrilița was previously proposed as prime minister by Maia Sandu in February 2021, but was rejected by the PSRM- Șor parliamentary majority. Natalia Gavrilița (; born 21 September 1977) is a Moldovan economist and politician who has served as prime minister of Moldova since 2021. Gavrilița was previously proposed as prime minister by Maia Sandu in February 2021, but was rejected by the PSRM- Șor parliamentary majority. She was proposed once again in August 2021, following the 2021 parliamentary election, and was approved along with her cabinet. In the 2021 parliamentary election, Gavrilița was also elected to the Parliament of Moldova on behalf of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS). She previously served as finance minister from June 2019 to November 2019 in the cabinet of Sandu, when the latter served as prime minister. Maia Sandu
Maia Sandu (; born 24 May 1972) is a Moldovan politician who has been the President of Moldova since 24 December 2020. She is the former leader of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) and former Prime Minister of Moldova from 8 June 2019 until 14 November 2019. On 12 November 2019, Sandu's government collapsed after a vote of no-confidence, with 63 (deputies from PSRM and PDM) of the 101 MPs having voted on the motion submitted by the PSRM. Sandu was Minister of Education from 2012 to 2015 and member of the Parliament of Moldova from 2014 to 2015, and again in 2019. She was selected as the joint candidate of the pro-European PPDA and PAS parties for president of Moldova in the 2016 election.
