Georgia (country) In The Eurovision Song Contest
Georgia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 14 times, debuting at the 2007 contest. Georgia planned to participate in 2009, but decided to withdraw after the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) demanded it to re-write its song which made reference to the then-Russian prime minister, Vladimir Putin. Georgia has reached the final on seven occasions, achieving two top ten placements, with Sofia Nizharadze () and Eldrine () both finishing ninth. History On 27 October 2006, Georgia confirmed that they wished to debut at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. At that time, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) still limited the contest to a maximum of 40 countries, however, in March 2007, it was announced that all 42 applicants would participate in the 2007 contest in Helsinki. At the contest, Georgia managed to progress from the semi-final (where it scored 123 points, finishing 8th), but only came 12th (out of 24) in the final. Georgian Public Broadcaster ( ka, საქართველოს საზოგადოებრივი მაუწყებელი, ) is the national public broadcaster of Georgia. History It started broadcasting radio in 1925, and Georgian TV started broadcasting in 1956. Today, 85% of the Georgian population receive the First Channel, and 55% receive the Second Channel. Georgian TV's programmes are also received by satellite and over the Internet in a number of European and Asian countries. The adoption of Law on Broadcasting in 2004, started the process of transformation of Georgian TV from being a state broadcaster into a public broadcaster. Warrior (Nina Sublatti Song)
"Warrior" is a song performed by Georgian singer-songwriter Nina Sublatti. The song represented Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. In an interview ahead of the Georgian national final, Sublatti said she wrote the song during a three-hour period in the middle of the night. The Shin
The Shin ( ka, შინ) is a Georgian fusion jazz band formed in Germany in 1998. The music of The Shin smoothly combines Georgian folk melodies with jazz, famous native polyphonic singing with scat, and tunes of the near Orient and flamenco with a modern Western sound. The Shin was founded by Zaza Miminoshvili (guitars, panduri) and Zurab Gagnidze ( bass, vocals), and joined by Mamuka Ghaganidze (vocals, percussion) in 2002.
