Gasolin' Albums
Gasolin' were a Danish rock band from Christianshavn, Copenhagen, formed by Kim Larsen, Franz Beckerlee, and Wili Jønsson in 1969. Their first drummer was the late Bjørn Uglebjerg. He was replaced by Søren Berlev in 1971. At their formation, the guitar playing of Franz Beckerlee was inspired by Jimi Hendrix and the vocals and lyrics of Larsen were inspired by Bob Dylan, while the rhythm playing of Jønsson and Berlev owed much to The Beatles. However, they would soon develop their own musical style. The pop sensibility of Kim Larsen, the artistic attitude of Franz Beckerlee and the musical competence of Wili Jønsson would prove to be a recipe for success. Gasolin's lyrics were generally written by the entire group, often with the assistance of their friend Mogens Mogensen. History Franz Beckerlee and Wili Jønsson had known each other since they were boys, and as both played music they wanted to form a band together. While Beckerlee had been brought up without much love ...

Gasolin' (album)
''Gasolin' ''(also called ''Gas 1'') is the debut studio album by Danish rock band Gasolin'. It was released in November 1971 by CBS Records. Instead of boogie rock and catchy tunes, they relied on creating songs with a moody feel such as "Langebro", "Fra dag til dag" and "Tremastet beton". The latter is recited by the poet Mogens Mogensen. Lead singer Kim Larsen later jokingly referred to the song as the first Danish rap. The lyrics and the music have a dark and mysterious ambience. From this album "Langebro" was released on the single with "Lilli-Lilli" on the b-side. The album was produced by the band itself in Copenhagen and sound engineer, Freddy Hansson went to Trident Studios in London to mix it with Roy Thomas Baker. He would later become Gasolin's producer. The cover was an illustration made by Hergé (originally from The Seven Crystal Balls), who loved the fact that a rock band would use one of his drawings for an album cover. The album was released on CD in 1987 with ...

Supermix
''Supermix 1'' was released in 1980 as the first Gasolin' compilation. For some reason no songs from ''Gør det Noget'' were included, and popular songs such as "Rabalderstræde" and "Sirenesangen" are also absent. Therefore, this compilation was to become obsolete when '' Rabalderstræde Forever'' was released in 1991. However, for Gasolin' collectors this compilation is a must as it includes the rare track, "Aloha". ''Supermix 1'' is not identical with '' Supermix'' that was released in Sweden in 1980. ''Supermix'' has the rare track, "Where Do We Go Now, Mon Ami" and a rockier selection of songs. Track list Supermix 1 #"Aloha" (Previously unreleased - 1973) #"Langebro" (from their '' debut album'') #"Det var Inga, Katinka, Smukke Charlie på sin Harley" (from ''Gasolin' 3'') #"Bingo" (from ''Stakkels Jim'') #"Det er en kold tid" (non album track) #"Se din by fra tårnets top" (from ''Gasolin' 2'') #"Dejlig er Jorden" (non album track) #"På banen" (from ''Gasolin' 2'') #"De gu ...

Killin' Time (Gasolin' Album)
''Killin' Time'' was recorded in the spring of 1977 and released in Denmark in the summer of 1978. In Sweden it was released as ''Tivoli''. It was Gasolin's fourth and last album with English lyrics. Actually it was their last studio album release, although ''Gør det Noget'' was the last album they recorded. ''Killin' Time'' was produced by Felix Pappalardi because Gasolin' wanted someone who could produce an "American" sound so they could break the lucrative American market. However, Gasolin' was not satisfied with Pappalardi's mix and the record company would not release it in the USA because they did not believe that ''Killin' Time'' would sell. It was shelved for a year, and then released using another mix by Franz Beckerlee. (The original Pappalardi mix can be heard in ''A Foreign Affair'') ''Killin' Time'' is the only of the four albums with English lyrics that include almost only original material ("Closer", "Magic Garden" and "Sing My Song" are the exceptions). Steven Le ...

Gør Det Noget
''Gør det Noget'' is Danish rock group Gasolin's seventh studio album. When Gasolin' released ''Gør det Noget'' in November 1977 (translation: "does it matter" or "so what"), they knew it was their last album. After the ambitious ''Gas 5'' and ''Efter endnu en dag'', Gasolin' decided to make a garage-rock album. Therefore, the service of Roy Thomas Baker was not needed and ''Gør det Noget'' was produced by Gasolin' and "Rocco" Tommy Bogs. The sound on ''Gør det Noget'' is raw and thunderous and songs such as "Jumbo Number Nul" and "Kina Rock" sounds like Sex Pistols. Sentimental ballads like "Kattemor" and "Længes Hjem" has a rawness due to the minimalist production, but all the songs are still very catchy. Especially "Det bedste til mig og mine venner" and "Strengelegen". From this album "Jumbo Nummer Nul" / "Kattemor" and "Kina Rock" / "Længes Hjem" were released as singles. ''Gør det Noget'' was recorded in Sweet Silence Studio in Copenhagen and engineered by Freddy Han ...

What A Lemon
''What a Lemon'' is an album by Denmark, Danish Rock music, rock band Gasolin', released 1 August 1976 on Epic Records in the United States, some parts of Europe, Japan and Australia. It is the third of four albums with English lyrics that Gasolin' released between 1974 and 1978 in an attempt to break the international music market. The album received good reviews from leading American Music journalism, rock critics, but lack of airplay (radio), airplay and the fact that the record company invested only small efforts in promotion and distribution meant that it never earned the band the public acclaim it was striving for. History By the start of 1976 Gasolin' was the most popular band in Denmark. Their latest LP ''Gas 5'', issued the previous year, had sold 65.000 copies and earned them a Gold record. But the band had ambitions of international fame, and while re-negotiating their record contract with CBS they demanded to have an album issued in the United States as part of the d ...

Live Sådan
''Live sådan'' is a live album by Gasolin', released in June 1976 as a double LP album. It was recorded during their winter tour of Denmark in January 1976. It was the first of three official live album releases by Gasolin' and it is considered to be the definitive one. The other live albums are ''Live i Skandinavien'' and ''Derudaf Forever''. ''Live sådan'' was produced by Franz Beckerlee and Roy Thomas Baker and engineered by Freddy Hansson. It was the first Gasolin' album to be recorded in Sweet Silence Mobile Studio. The majority of the songs from this live recording was taken from ''Stakkels Jim'' and ''Gas 5''. ''Live sådan'' contains 14 live songs and one studio song: "Hva' gør vi nu, lille du?". The studio song was omitted when ''Live sådan'' was released on compact disc in 1989. ''Live sådan'' is also included in '' The Black Box'' box set. Stakkels Jim
''Stakkels Jim'' (aka ''Gas 4'') is a studio album by Gasolin' and was released in November 1974. It was the second album to be produced by Roy Thomas Baker. The raw rock of ''Gasolin' 3'' would on this record be replaced by a more polished and bombastic sound, and for the first time strings would be incorporated. ''Stakkels Jim'' does not rock as hard as ''Gasolin' 3'' and songs such as "Bingo" and "Perron 'Gare du Nord' " are quite poppish. However, epic rock songs such as "Legenden om Josha og Ming" and the title song, which was based on the " Auld lang syne" melody, would be the blueprint for their next album, ''Gas 5''. ''Stakkels Jim'' (translation: Poor Jim) was recorded in Rosenberg Studio in Copenhagen with Freddy Hansson as sound engineer. From this album "Onkel 'How Do You Do' " / "Johnny Lee" and "Bingo" / "Alla-Tin-Gala" were released as singles. ''Stakkels Jim'' was also released in England with English lyrics as ''The Last Jim'' in November 1974. ''Stakkels Jim'' w ...
