Galatasaray S.K., is a professional basketball team based in the city of Istanbul in Turkey. It is a part of the Galatasaray Sports Club. The team competes in the Turkish Basketball Super League and Basketball Champions League. The team has won 16 Turkish championships (5 titles in the Turkish Super League and 11 in the former Turkish Basketball Championship). The team furthermore won 3 Turkish Cups, 2 Turkish Super Cups, and 1 EuroCup. History According to the official records, in Turkey, basketball was first played in 1904 at Robert College. An American physical education teacher laid the foundations of this sport in Turkey. 7 years later, Ahmet Robenson, a physical education teacher in Galatasaray High School decided to introduce a new game to students in 1911. Basketbol Süper Ligi
The Basketball Super League ( tr, Basketbol Süper Ligi; BSL), also known as the Türkiye Sigorta Basketbol Süper Ligi for sponsorship reasons, is the top men's professional basketball division of the Turkish basketball league system. It replaced the former Turkish Basketball Championship (1946–1966) to become the Turkish Basketball League (TBL) until 2015 when it adopted its current name while the TBL name became exclusive to the second-tier and third-tier divisions. The BSL is administrated by the Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) and is contested by 16 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams relegated to the second-tier TBL and replaced by the top two teams of that division. Since the league's restructuring in 1966, 11 clubs have been crowned champions, with Anadolu Efes winning the title a record 15 times and Fenerbahçe 10 times. Medical Park Hospitals Group, which has been active in the health care sector since 1995, offers service in various provinces of Turkey with more than 6,000 doctors and employees, 17 hospitals in total. Medical Park is the biggest hospital group in Turkey. The hospital chain was founded by Muharrem Usta, who currently chairs the company. The company owned two hospitals in Istanbul in 2005. In 2006, he initially sold 30% of the company shares to Sancak family. The 2011–12 Turkish Airlines Euroleague was the 12th season of the modern era of Euroleague and the second under the title sponsorship of Turkish Airlines.
