Jerry Gaetz
Stanley Jerome Gaetz (April 25, 1914 – April 9, 1964) was an American railroader and politician from North Dakota. A member of the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party, Gaetz served in the North Dakota Senate in 1964 and was mayor of the town of Rugby, North Dakota, Rugby from 1958 until 1962. Gaetz briefly ran for Lieutenant Governor of North Dakota, lieutenant governor in 1964. Gaetz died on April 9, 1964, after giving a speech in support of Barry Goldwater at the state party convention. His son Don Gaetz later served as the President of the Florida Senate, president of the Florida Senate from 2012 until 2014, while his grandson Matt Gaetz has served as a U.S. representative since 2017. Donald Jay Gaetz ( ; born January 22, 1948) is a Republican politician who served as a member of the Florida State Senate from 2006 to 2016, representing parts of Northwest Florida. He was Senate president from 2012 to 2014. He is the father of Congressman Matt Gaetz. Early life and career Gaetz was born in Rugby, North Dakota, the son of Olive (Knutson) and Jerry Gaetz, a former mayor of the city and a state legislator. Jerry Gaetz was a candidate for Lieutenant Governor of North Dakota at the 1964 North Dakota Republican Party state convention, where he died of a heart attack while his son watched television coverage of the event. John Gaetz
John Jost Gaetz (June 6, 1859 – December 24, 1937) was a provincial politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1918 to 1921 sitting with the Liberal caucus in government. Early life Gaetz moved to the Red Deer area with his mother Catherine Gaetz in the fall of 1885. They applied for and got homesteads in the area. The area is now known as the Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary. Political career Gaetz ran for a seat as the Liberal candidate in a by-election held on October 28, 1918. He won the district easily over Conservative candidate F.W. Galbraith. Leonard Gaetz
Leonard Gaetz (June 7, 1841 – June 9, 1907) was a Canadian politician. He was one of the first settlers and founder of what is now the city of Red Deer, Alberta. Early life Born in 1841 at Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia, Gaetz married Caroline Blowers Hamilton in 1865. They had a family of eleven children, six sons and five daughters. Gaetz was an ordained Methodist minister, serving the church until 1883. He left the ministry due to ill health and moved to the Red Deer Valley. He decided to homestead on the west half of a section on the Red Deer River, and one of his sons, Halley Gaetz, took up the other half section. Red Deer Leonard Gaetz acted as the local land agent for the Saskatchewan Colonization Company and purchased parts of three other sections from his employers. Link Gaetz (born October 2, 1968) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League with the Minnesota North Stars and San Jose Sharks. NHL career Gaetz was drafted in the second round, 40th overall in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota North Stars. According to then-North Stars general manager Lou Nanne, Gaetz was intended to provide on-ice protection for forward Mike Modano, Minnesota's No. 1 overall pick that year. Sharon Gaetz
Sharon L. Gaetz is the first woman elected mayor of Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. She had previously served as acting mayor prior to being elected. Mayor Gaetz also served as director for the Fraser Valley Regional District. She was elected mayor during the 2008 British Columbia municipal elections. In 2018, she lost to incumbent city councilor Ken Popove whilst seeking a fourth term.
