Fortescue Leo Ash (1882–1956) was the fourth Anglican Bishop of Rockhampton in Australia from 1928 until 1946. Ash was born in Singleton, New South Wales on 26 August 1882 educated at St. Paul's College, Sydney. He trained for ordination at St John's College, Armidale and was ordained deacon in 1908 and priest in 1910. His first post was as a curate at St Anne's Strathfield, New South Wales after which he was rector of Ravenswood, Queensland before wartime service as a chaplain with the Australian Imperial Force (AIF). General Sir Fortescue Graham (1794 – 9 October 1880) was a senior Royal Marines officer, serving for 62 years and seeing active service in the Napoleonic, Peninsular, and War of 1812, and later in Spain, China, and the Baltic campaign 1854. Early life Fortescue Graham was born in Tintinhull, Somerset, the son of Colonel Richard Graham, Royal Marines, (a descendant of the Grahams of Platten, County Meath), and his wife, Catherine, the daughter of Captain Philip Walsh, Royal Navy. He was educated at Martock College, Somerset. Fortescue Bay
Fortescue Bay or Baje Dolomien is a bay in southeast Tasmania, Australia. It is located east of Port Arthur, Tasmania, and makes up part of Tasman National Park. Within the bay are two smaller nested bays, Canoe Bay and Bivouac Bay. History Timber mill During the early 1900s, a timber mill was started at Fortescue Bay by G. Albury and Turner Brothers. At the beginning of the 1920s, the Gathercole Brothers company began advertising for men to work at their mill. It is possible that the Gathercole Brothers carried on operation of the mill owned by G. Albury and Turner Brothers, as they owned several mills around Port Arthur. Fortescue River
The Fortescue River is an ephemeral river in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. It is the third longest river in the state. Course The river rises near Deadman Hill in the Ophthalmia Range about 30 km south of Newman. The river flows in a northerly direction parallel with the Great Northern Highway until it crosses the highway just south of the Marble Bar turn-off. The river then runs north-west then west crossing the Great Northern Highway again, north of the Auski Roadhouse. Approximately north of Newman, the river flows through the Fortescue Marsh, an important wetland. Earl Fortescue is a title in the Peerage of Great Britain that was created in 1789 for Hugh Fortescue, 3rd Baron Fortescue (1753–1841), a member of parliament for Beaumaris and Lord-Lieutenant of Devon.
