First Wike Executive Council
The First Wike Executive Council was the Executive Council of Rivers State between 5 June 2015 and 24 June 2017. It was led by Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike with Ipalibo Banigo as Vice-Chairman. The first set of appointments to the cabinet were made on 5 June 2015. The designees included Kenneth Kobani, Chukwuemeka Woke, Emmanuel C. Aguma, Fred Kpakol, Onimim Jacks, Emmanuel Okah and Opunabo Inko-Tariah. Governor Wike appointed Desmond Akawor, Ambassador to South Korea, to serve as Administrator of the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority. On 16 July 2015, former Permanent Secretary of Rivers State Ministry of Environment Rufus Godwins was sworn in as the Head of Service. Further appointments to the Wike Executive Council were announced formally on 20 November 2015 and included 20 commissioner nominees, all of whom were confirmed by the Rivers State House of Assembly and sworn in on December 18. Rivers State
Rivers State, also known as Rivers, is a state in the Niger Delta region of southern Nigeria (Old Eastern Region). Formed in 1967, when it was split from the former Eastern Region, Rivers State borders include: Imo to the north, Abia and Akwa Ibom to the east, and Bayelsa and Delta to the west. Fred Kpakol
Fred Barivure Kpakol is an accountant and politician. He served as Rivers State Finance Commissioner between 2015 and 2019.He also served as the Commissioner for Agriculture between 2019 and 2022. He is a native of B-Dere in Gokana. He studied accounting and finance at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology and graduated with a B.Sc. in Accounting and Finance. He went further to do his masters in Banking and Finance at Federal University of Technology Owerri and he later had his Ph.D degree in Banking,Finance and Taxation from Rivers State University of Science and Technology. Kpakol is affiliated with the People's Democratic Party and has served as Chairman of Gokana local government area. ''The Tide'' is a Nigerian daily newspaper. It is the most widely circulated newspaper published in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and one of Nigeria's major newspapers. Owned and funded by the state, ''The Tide'' began printing operations on 1 December 1971 and has a digital version. Fire On 20 July 2012, a fire broke out in ''The Tide''s main building, damaging significant portions of the establishment, including the General Manager's office, Credit Control Unit, Administration General office and Board Room. Although no injuries or deaths were reported, much of the company's equipment and staff documents were destroyed. According to a statement from the General Manager Mr. Celestine Ogolo, the fire started at around 2.00a.m and quickly took over the highest floor of the building where his office was stationed. The Rivers State Civil Service (RSCS) is the body of professional civil servants entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out the policies of the Rivers State government in relation to infrastructural development and social service delivery. Rufus NkereAwaji Godwins is a lawyer and civil servant in Rivers State, Nigeria. He is the former Head of Service under the administration of Governor Ezenwo Wike.
