A ''Fau de Verzy'' is either a Dwarf Beech (''Fagus sylvatica'' variety ''tortuosa''), a dwarf oak tree, or a dwarf chestnut tree. These grow in the forest of Verzy, 25 km south of Reims in France. In this forest are less than a thousand dwarf beeches, some dozen dwarf oaks and some dwarf chestnuts (see Biology below), but this article speaks in the main about dwarf beeches. The Fau or Faux, also known as ruisseau de Faux (the "creek Faux") is a small but abundant river of the department of the Ardennes in France. It is a left-bank tributary of the Meuse. Geography The Faux has its source to the east of the town of Les Mazures in the western part of the Massif of the Ardennes () located south of the Franco-Belgian border (south of the province of Namur) at a height of 380 m.
