Fastway (bus Rapid Transit)
Fastway is a bus rapid transit network in Surrey and West Sussex, United Kingdom, linking Crawley with London Gatwick Airport, Gatwick Airport and Horley, the first to be constructed outside a major city. It uses specially adapted buses that can either be steered by the driver or operate as "self steering" guided buses along a specially constructed track. Fastway is operated by Metrobus (South East England), Metrobus, using Scania OmniCity, Wright StreetLite and Volvo B7RLE / Wright Eclipse, Wright Eclipse 2 buses. Overview Fastway aims to improve bus services in the Crawley, Gatwick and Horley area. Fastway Couriers (formerly trading as HB Couriers) is a courier delivery services company founded in Napier, New Zealand. At the peak of its' service, Fastway operated delivery services in New Zealand, Australia, Ireland and South Africa. The company currently operates in Ireland and South Africa. The company has operated using a franchise model since 1983, with franchising at the regional and courier level; regional franchises are responsible for managing the sales support and depots facilities in their region, while each courier franchise manages a courier route. Each country with Fastway operations also has a master franchisee, who is responsible for providing the money needed to established Fastway operations, and managing the inter-city transportation of parcels. Fastway (band)
Fastway were a British heavy metal band formed in 1982 by former Motörhead guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke and UFO bassist Pete Way. The band went through many line-up and member changes and founding member and bassist Pete Way left the band after receiving an opportunity to play with Ozzy Osbourne. Career In 1982, both guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke and bassist Pete Way had become disgruntled with their own bands and decided to work together in a new outfit. They recruited Humble Pie drummer Jerry Shirley, and the then-unknown vocalist Dave King. They took their name from a combination of the founding members' names. However, Way discovered that he could not break his recording contract with Chrysalis Records and then received an offer to play for Ozzy Osbourne; he left the band and did not record any songs. ''Fastway'' is the debut studio album by British rock band Fastway (band), Fastway, released in April 1983. Founding member Pete Way (ex-bass guitar player with UFO (band), UFO) did not play on the album, because by the time the recording sessions began Way left the band. He soon formed another band, Waysted. The bass guitar parts on the album were actually played by Rafaelito Benitez. He worked in the studio where the album was recorded and when Pete Way (who was meant to be there) didn't show up that day, Benitez offered to play bass for the album. He came up with the bass lines and remains uncredited for the album. The album has been reissued as a two-fer with the second Fastway album, ''All Fired Up (Fastway album), All Fired Up''; however, that edition omits the song "Far Far from Home", bonus track featured on the standalone CD release of the first album.
