European Games
The European Games is a continental multi-sport event in the Olympic Games, Olympic tradition contested by sportsperson, athletes from European nations and several European Olympic Committees#Notes, transcontinental countries. The Games were envisioned and are governed by the European Olympic Committees (EOC), which announced their launch at its 41st General Assembly in Rome, on 8 December 2012. History The 2015 European Games, the first edition of the event, took place in Baku, Azerbaijan in June 2015, and further editions are planned every four years thereafter. The 2019 European Games, 2019 edition was held in Minsk, Belarus from 21 to 30 June. The 2023 European Games, 2023 edition will be held in Kraków, Poland. The volleyball tournaments at the 2015 European Games in Baku were played between 13 and 28 June. 12 teams participated in the two indoor tournaments, while 32 pairs took part in each of the beach volleyball events. Qualification Indoor volleyball Each event will accept twelve entered teams. Qualification for indoor volleyball for the 2015 European Games is based on European rankings. The water polo tournaments at the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan were held at the Baku Aquatics Centre in the Baku Games Cluster from 12 to 21 June 2015. 16 teams competed in the men's tournament and 12 teams in the women's tournament. Water polo was not included in the earliest list of sports confirmed for the 2015 Games, as the European swimming authorities at that stage were minded not to take part.
