Elsinoë Batatas
''Elsinoë batatas'' is a species of fungus in the Elsinoaceae family. It is a plant pathogen that affects members of the genus ''Ipomoea'', including the sweet potato. The species was originally described in 1931 as a species of ''Sphaceloma'', and in 1943 was transferred to ''Elsinoë'' by Ahmés Pinto Viégas and Anna Eliza Jenkins Anna Eliza Jenkins (10 September 1886 – 26 November 1972) was an American mycologist. She specialized in phytopathology (plant diseases), particularly the fungi responsible for "spot anthracnoses", including ''Sphaceloma'' and ''Elsinoe''. Early .... Elsinoë Mangiferae
''Elsinoë mangiferae'', common name "mango scab", is also known ''Denticularia mangiferae'' or ''Sphaceloma mangiferae'' (anamorph). It is an ascomycete plant pathogen native to tropical regions and specific for survival on only one host, the mango. Originally described in 1943 from Florida and Cuba specimens, this pathogen has since spread worldwide and is becoming a pathogen of great concern for the mango industries in Australia and India. The species was first described formally in 1946. Hosts and symptoms ''Elsinoë mangiferae'' produces symptoms superficially similar to anthracnose infections, which are also common on mango. The disease initially presents as small dark brown or gray spots on the underside of leaves or fruit. These spots enlarge and darken over time, developing a velvety or cracked texture in the center of the lesion. The main lifestyle difference between these two is that anthracnose infections are caused by saprotrophic fungi, while ''E. mangifer ...

at Ohio State University
This type of anthracnose affects several plant varieties, including some brambles and wine grapes. Grape anthracnose can be identified by the "bird's eye" lesions on the berries and sunken black or greyish lesions on leaves and shoots. From these lesions, conidia are produced. This disease can be lethal to the plant, either through defoliation and removal of photosynthetic capacity, or through injury to the active regions of the vine. Grape anthracnose is particularly important to the wine industry, as it can decrease quality and quantity ...

Elsinoë Australis
''Elsinoë australis'' is a fungal plant pathogen that causes sweet orange scab (SOS). The disease only attacks the fruit of citrus trees, causing the formation of pustules and lesions on the skin of the fruit. The spores of the fungus are spread from tree to tree by rain splash. It can be controlled by the use of various fungicides including strobulins and thiophanate methyl Thiophanate-methyl is an organic compound with the formula C6H4(NHC(S)NH(CO)OCH3)2. The compound is a colorless or white solid, although commercial samples are generally tan-colored. It is prepared from ''o''-phenylenediamine. Uses and analysis ....
