Egyptian Basketball Super League
The Egyptian Basketball Super League, also known as the Egyptian Basketball Premier League A, is the top professional basketball division of the Egyptian basketball league system. Administrated by the Egyptian Basketball Federation (EBBFED), it is contested by 16 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams Promotion and relegation, relegated to the Egyptian Basketball Premier League B and replaced by the top two teams in that division. A total of five clubs have been crowned champions of the Egyptian Basketball Super League since its inception in 1972, with Zamalek SC (basketball), Zamalek winning the title a record 15 times and Al Ittihad Alexandria (basketball), Al Ittihad 13 times, though the Egyptian Basketball Super League also saw other champions, including Gezira (basketball club), Gezira (11 times), Al Ahly (basketball club), Al Ahly (6 times) and Alexandria Sporting Club, Sporting (3 times). Egyptian Basketball Federation
The Egyptian Basketball Federation is the governing body of the sport of basketball in Egypt. It joined International Basketball Federation FIBA in 1934. History It was founded in 1934, and was a member of FIBA Europe, as the FIBA Africa zone was not founded until 1961. Offices The Egyptian Basketball Federation offices are located in Cairo. Men's teams The Egyptian Basketball Federation originally focused on the men's Egyptian national basketball team, with their achievements including 9th place at the 1952 Summer Olympics, as well as its 5th place at the 1950 FIBA World Championship. At the FIBA Africa Championships, Egypt holds a records number of 16 medals. Egypt's men's team participated in the Summer Olympic Games seven times. In 1984 and 1988, Egypt came in the 12th on both occasions. 2018–19 Egyptian Basketball Super League
The 2018–19 Egyptian Basketball Super League was the 45th season of the Egyptian Basketball Super League. It started on 29 October 2018 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 4 May 2019 with the finals. The champions qualified for the 2020 Basketball Africa League (BAL). Sporting was the defending champion, but was defeated in the quarterfinals by the eventual champions Zamalek, who won their 14th title after defeating Gezira in the finals, the title was decided in Game 5, which Zamalek won 87–66. Ehab Mohamed Mohamed Amin Saleh (born August 1, 1995) is an Egyptian professional basketball player for Al Ahly. He played college basketball for the Oregon Ducks. He spent his first three college seasons at Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, leading the NCAA Division I in List of NCAA Division I men's basketball season steals leaders, steals and earning first-team All-Southland Conference accolades as a junior. Anas Osama Mahmoud ( ar, أنس أسامة محمود; born May 9, 1995) is an Egyptian professional basketball player who plays for Al Ittihad Alexandria of the Egyptian Basketball Super League. Ismail Ahmed Abdelmoneim ( ar, إسماعيل أحمد عبد المنعم; born September 23, 1976), also known as Somaa, is an Egyptian-Lebanese professional basketball player for Al Riyadi Club Beirut of the Lebanese Basketball League. Wael Badr (born 1 December 1978) is an Egyptian retired basketball player. He is a member of the Egypt national basketball team.
