Egaleo F.C.
Egaleo Football Club () is a Greek professional football club based in Aigaleo, a suburban town in the Athens urban area, Greece. Founded in 1946, it uses all documents of previous club (Ierapolis F.C., founded in 1931). The team currently competes in the Super League 2, the second tier of Greek football and it holds home matches at Stavros Mavrothalassitis Stadium. Club colours are blue and white. History Egaleo was founded in 1931 by Demetrios Haniotis and Georgios Aronis, as ''Athletic Union of Ierapolis'' (Αθλητική Ένωση Ιεραπόλεως – Athlitiki Enosis Ieropoleos). In 1946, three other clubs in the district merged with A.E. Ierapoleos to form ''Athletic Club Egaleo'' (Αθλητικός Όμιλος Αιγάλεω – Athlitikos Omilos Egaleo), which managed to reach for the first time the first division in 1961. Stavros Mavrothalassitis Stadium
Stavros Mavrothalassitis Stadium is a football stadium in Aigaleo, a town and a suburb within the Athens#Athens Urban Area, Athens agglomeration, Greece. It is currently used mostly for football games and is the home stadium of Egaleo FC. it has an effective capacity of 8,217 people. The Football League () was the second highest professional football league in Greece since its inception in 1962 as ''Beta Ethniki'' and until 2019. Delta Ethniki
Delta Ethniki () was the fourth level of Greek football championship. During the period of its existence, it was the lowest national division of the Greek championship. It was founded in the 1982–83 season and abolished in the 2012–13 season, as it was merged with the third division (Football League 2). Its history therefore spans 31 years. Many historical clubs of first division (Super League) have played in Delta Ethniki, such as Iraklis (2011–12 season), Ethnikos Piraeus, Apollon Smyrnis and Atromitos. 2008–09 Gamma Ethniki
The 2008–09 Gamma Ethniki was the 26th season since the official establishment of the third tier of Greek football in 1983. It started on September 14, 2008 and finished on May 3, 2009. 36 teams contest the league, divided into two groups of 18 clubs each, using certain geographical criteria. 23 of the participant clubs have contested in the 2007-08 season, 3 of them have been relegated from Beta Ethniki, while 10 of them have been promoted from Delta Ethniki. The Gamma Ethniki (, C National Division) is the Greek football league system, third highest football league in Greece. History The Gamma Ethniki began in 1965 as an amateur championship, while in 1983 it was changed to professional. Although not literally national (it is divided into ''North'' and ''South'' groups), Football League 2 is considered as a national division. On 3 August 2010, it was announced that the division had been renamed ''Football League 2''.
