The ''Dragon Tattoo'' film series consists of American films based on the ''Millennium'' novels, which were written by Stieg Larsson and David Lagercrantz. The plot centers around Lisbeth Salander, an asocial computer hacker, and Mikael Blomkvist, an investigative journalist and publisher of a magazine called ''Millennium'', as they investigate criminal injustices. ''The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'', an adaption of the first novel in the series, was released in 2011. It was written by Steven Zaillian and directed by David Fincher, with Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara starring as Blomkvist and Salander. Stieg Larsson
Karl Stig-Erland "Stieg" Larsson (, ; 15 August 1954 – 9 November 2004) was a Swedish writer, journalist, and activist. He is best known for writing the ''Millennium'' trilogy of crime novels, which were published posthumously, starting in 2005, after he died of a sudden heart attack. The trilogy was adapted as three motion pictures in Sweden, and one in the U.S. (for the first book only). ''The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'' is a 2011 neo-noir psychological thriller film based on the 2005 novel by Swedish writer Stieg Larsson. It was directed by David Fincher with a screenplay by Steven Zaillian.
