Declan Danaher
Declan Danaher (born 11 January 1980) is a former rugby union footballer who played at back row for London Irish in the Aviva Premiership. He is currently Defence coach for the same team. Club career Danaher joined London Irish in 1999, making his debut against Gloucester Rugby in May 2000. He started in the 2002 Powergen Cup Final at Twickenham, as London Irish defeated the Northampton Saints. Danaher was on the losing side in the Finals of the 2005-06 European Challenge Cup and 2008–09 Guinness Premiership. In July 2012, he was appointed the captain of London Irish for the 2012/13 Aviva Premiership Rugby Season. International career He has represented Ireland at U19 level and England at U21 level. John Danaher VC also known as John Danagher (25 June 1860 – 9 January 1919) was an Irish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Early life Born in Limerick, Ireland, Danaher moved to South Africa shortly after the completion of his schooling. Upon the outbreak of the First Boer War, Danaher joined the Nourse's Horse (Transvaal), South African Forces. Military career He was 20 years old, and a Trooper, on an excursion from Pretoria with the Nourse's Horse (Transvaal) when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. On 16 January 1881 at Elandsfontein, near Pretoria, South Africa, Trooper Danaher, with a lance-corporal of the Connaught Rangers, ( James Murray) advanced for 500 yards under heavy fire from a party of about 60 of the enemy, and brought out of action a private who had been severely wounded. John Danaher (martial Artist)
John Danaher (born April 2, 1967 in Washington, D.C., United States) is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts instructor and coach. He is widely regarded as one of the best instructors and coaches in these sports. Danaher holds a 6th-degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Renzo Gracie, and he is a former instructor at the Renzo Gracie Academy in Manhattan. Danaher grew up in New Zealand and arrived in the United States in 1991 to study at Columbia University's philosophy Ph.D. program. After arriving in New York, Danaher was introduced to Brazilian jiu-jitsu by a friend at the university, and began taking classes at the Renzo Gracie Academy in Manhattan. He continued training at the academy and began to teach classes as well while Gracie was traveling for competition. Kevin Danaher (Irish, ''Caoimhín Ó Danachair'') (30 January 1913 – 14 March 2002) was an Irish folklorist with a special interest in ethnography and military history. Danaher is the author of 10 books about Irish traditional customs and beliefs, the best known of which are ''The Year in Ireland'', ''In Ireland Long Ago'', and ''Folktales from the Irish Countryside''. Kevin Danaher is an American author and anti-globalization activist. With his wife Medea Benjamin and activist Kirsten Irgens-Moller, he co-founded Global Exchange, a social justice and anti-globalization non-governmental organization based in San Francisco, California. He is the founder and executive co-producer of the Green Festivals and he is executive Director of the Global Citizen Center. He received his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Early life and education Kevin Danaher was born in New Jersey, on July 11, 1950.
