Côte-d'Or's 4th Constituency
The 4th constituency of the Côte-d'Or is a French legislative constituency in the Côte-d'Or ''département''. Like the other 576 French constituencies, it elects one MP using the two-round system. Description Côte-d'Or's 4th constituency is a large rural seat covering the north of the department. Historically it has supported the non-Gaullist conservative Union for French Democracy. In 2007 when the UDF split its existing representative François Sauvadet joined the newly formed New Centre in preference to the more centrist Democratic Movement (France). 1997 French Legislative Election
A French legislative election took place on 25 May and 1 June 1997 to elect the 11th National Assembly of the French Fifth Republic. It was the consequence of President Jacques Chirac's decision to call the legislative election one year before the deadline. In March 1993, the right won a large victory in the legislative election and a comfortable parliamentary majority. Two years later, the RPR leader Jacques Chirac was elected President of France promising to reduce the "social fracture". However, the programme of welfare reforms ("Plan Juppé") proposed by his Prime Minister Alain Juppé caused a social crisis in November and December 1995. The popularity of the executive duo decreased. In spring 1997, President Chirac tried to take the left-wing opposition by surprise by dissolving the National Assembly. La France Insoumise
La France Insoumise (FI or LFI; ; "France Unbowed") is a left-wing populist political party in France, launched in 2016 by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, then a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and former co-president of the Left Party (PG). It aims to implement the eco-socialist and democratic socialist programme ''L'Avenir en commun'' (). The party nominated Mélenchon as its candidate for the presidential election of 2017. He came fourth in the first round, receiving 19.5% of the vote and failing to qualify for the second round by around 2%. Ensemble () is a liberal political coalition in France. Formed in November 2021 as Ensemble Citoyens, it includes Renaissance (REN), formerly known as En Marche, Democratic Movement (MoDem) Horizons, En commun, and the Progressive Federation. 2022 French Legislative Election
Legislative elections in France were held on 12 and 19 June 2022 to elect the 577 members of the 16th National Assembly of the Fifth French Republic. The elections took place following the 2022 French presidential election, which was held in April 2022. They have been described as the most indecisive legislative elections since the establishment of the five-year presidential term in 2000 and subsequent change of the electoral calendar in 2002. For the first time since 1997, the incumbent president of France does not have an absolute majority in Parliament. Ecology Democracy Solidarity (french: Écologie Démocratie Solidarité) was a centre-left parliamentary group in the National Assembly of France. It was formed in May 2020 by members of La République En Marche!, a liberal parliamentary group. After losing three members in the span of two months, the group was forcibly dissolved in October 2020 because it didn’t have enough members. It then became The New Democrats. Renaissance (RE), previously known as La République En Marche ! (frequently abbreviated LREM, LaREM or REM; translated as "The Republic on the Move" or "Republic Forward"), or sometimes called simply En Marche ! Yolaine De Courson
Yolaine de Courson (born 14 July 1954) is a French politician who served as a member of the French National Assembly from 2017 to 2022, representing the department of Côte-d'Or. She was elected as a member of La République En Marche!, but left the party and in May 2020, she was one of the 17 initial members who formed the short-lived Ecology Democracy Solidarity group. Political career De Courson entered national politics at the age of 63, having previously retired from her career in business. Legislative elections in France were held on 11 and 18 June 2017 (with different dates for voters overseas) to elect the 577 members of the 15th National Assembly of the Fifth Republic.
