Czech Republic National Rugby League Team
The Czech Republic national rugby league team was established to broaden the skills of the rugby union team. The team has competed in a number of competitions and hosted the Slavic Cup in 2006. History The Czech Association of Rugby League (CZARL) began life in early 2006, under the guidance of former Czech rugby union international Milan Mrtýnek and Englishman Iain Sellers. The squad's first training session, in February 2006, was held in an indoor basketball hall because of an extremely fierce Czech winter. From these modest beginnings, the Czech Republic team, with support from the Rugby League European Federation, struggled to play four full games in their debut season. Perhaps inevitably, given the unfamiliarity of the game, the Czech Republic lost all four matches, and the margins of defeat were not narrow. The Czech Rugby League Association is the governing body for the sport of rugby league football in Czech Republic. The Association was formed during 4 October 2005. In 2011, the Czech Rugby League Association was admitted to affiliate membership of the Rugby League European Federation after reforming its governance. Rugby League In The Czech Republic
Rugby league in the Czech Republic began in 2006. The Czech national team played their first game on August 5, 2006 in Prague, losing 34-28 to the Netherlands. In 2007, the Czech Republic took part in the European Shield tournament. This tournament involved two other second-tier nations, Germany and Serbia. The Czechs lost 44-22 to Germany in Prague on August 4, and 56-16 to Serbia in Belgrade on August 18, and finished third. In 2011, the Czech Rugby League Association was given affiliate membership of the Rugby League European Federation. Czech rugby league's top club competition is the 1. liga ("1st League"). The current 1. liga champions are Mad Squirrels VrchlabÃ, who beat Krupka Dragons, 32-10, in the 2023 Grand Final. Great Britain Police Rugby League
Great Britain Police Rugby League, (sometimes referred in Rugby League media to as British Police,) is a British rugby league team representing the police forces in the United Kingdom. The team have regularly played in the Challenge Cup since 2010. They usually play their home games groundsharing with Rochdale Mayfield at Mayfield Sports Centre in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. The Hungary national rugby league team, known as the Magyar Bulls, represents Hungary in the sport of rugby league football. Making their debut against the Czech Republic in July 2011, they played their first ranked international against Greece in October 2013. The Rugby League European Championship C, formerly the European Bowl, is an international European rugby league football tournament organised by the Rugby League European Federation for third tier rugby league nations. Warrington Wolves
The Warrington Wolves are a professional rugby league club based in Warrington, England, that competes in the Super League. They play rugby at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, having moved there from Wilderspool in 2004. Founded as Warrington Zingari Football Club in 1876, they are one of the original twenty-two clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895 and the only one that has played every season in the top flight. The Catalans Dragons ( French: ''Dragons Catalans'', Catalan: ''Dracs Catalans'') are a professional rugby league club from Perpignan, Pyrénées-Orientales department, France. The team competes in the Super League and are the only team from outside England. The Dragons play regular home games at Stade Gilbert Brutus in the centre of the city. The Super League (officially known as the Betfred Super League due to sponsorship from Betfred and legally known as Super League Europe), is the top-level of the British rugby league system. At present the league consists of twelve teams, of which eleven are from Northern England, reflecting the sport's geographic heartland within the UK, and one from southern France. The Super League began in 1996, replacing the existing Rugby Football League Championship First Division, First Division and, significantly, switching from a traditional winter season to a summer season. Each team plays 27 games between February and September: 11 home games, 11 away games, Magic Weekend and an additional 4 'loop fixtures' decided by league positions. The Catalonia national rugby league team represents Catalonia in the sport of rugby league football, running under the auspices of the Associació Catalana de Rugby Lliga. History Rugby league started in Catalonia in autumn 2007, with the advice of people from the French Catalan region, where this sport has been played since the 1930s.
