Czech Republic Fed Cup Team
The Czech Republic women's national tennis team is the representative national team of the Czech Republic in Billie Jean King Cup competition. The Czech Republic team in its current incarnation began competing in 1993. It is seen as the primary successor to the Czechoslovak team, and not Slovakia, even though the Czechoslovak team included both Czech and Slovak players. Czechoslovakia won the Billie Jean King Cup five times between 1975 and 1988 (when the competition was known as the Federation Cup), but the victory in 2011 (by which time the competition had been renamed the Fed Cup) was the team's first win as the Czech Republic. Petr Pála
Petr Pála (born 2 October 1975) is a tennis coach and former professional tennis player from the Czech Republic. Together with Pavel Vízner he reached the men's doubles final of the 2001 French Open but lost to Indians Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes (6–7, 3–6). Pála was coached by his father František, who was a professional tennis player on the ATP tour. Pála never had the opportunity to do his singles ability justice on the ATP Tour due to injury. When he recovered from these injuries he returned immediately to the doubles tour, but could not gain entry to official ATP matches. Regina Maršíková
Regina Maršíková (born 11 December 1958) is a retired tennis player from Czechoslovakia, present-day Czech Republic. Career Maršíková won the French Junior Championships in 1975. She had career wins over Martina Navratilova, Billie Jean King, Evonne Goolagong, Hana Mandlíková, Tracy Austin, and Virginia Wade. Her best performances in Grand Slam singles events included three consecutive semifinals at the French Open from 1977 to 1979. She won the 1977 French Open women's doubles title with Pam Teeguarden. Maršíková was involved in an automobile accident in September 1981 near Prague, Czechoslovakia that caused a fatality. She lost her drivers license and visa and served several months in detention. Mirka Koželuhová
Miroslava "Mirka" Koželuhová (born 16 December 1951) is a Czech former professional tennis player. She has also been known by her married name Mirka Bendlová. Biography Koželuhová is the great-niece of tennis player Karel Koželuh, who is an inductee to the International Tennis Hall of Fame. During her career she featured in four editions of the French Open, the first in 1973. Renáta Tomanová
Renáta Tomanová (born 9 December 1954) is a former professional tennis player from Czechoslovakia. Career Tomanová won the girls' singles title at the 1972 French Open. In 1975, she and Martina Navratilova represented Czechoslovakia in the Federation Cup, the international women's team competition. They won the cup after beating the Australian team 3–0 in the final of the World Group. Between 1975 and 1981, she played in 18 ties for the Czechoslovakian team and compiled a 20–7 win–loss record. In May 1975, she won the singles title at the West German Championships in Hamburg after a three-set final against Kazuko Sawamatsu. Alena Palmeová-West (born 7 January 1945) is a Czech former professional tennis player. Biography Palmeová born in 1945 in Jihlava. She married American William Sidney West on July 17, 1970, divorced 1984. After the wedding she played under the name Alena Palmeová-West. Vlasta Vopičková (born 26 March 1944) is a Czech former professional tennis player. Biography She was born in 1944 as Vlasta Kodešová. Her younger brother is Jan Kodeš, who won three Grand Slam titles. After her marriage to Czech ice hockey player Milan Vopička in 1964, she became Vlasta Vopičková. Věra Suková
Věra Suková (née Pužejová) (13 June 1931 – 13 May 1982) was a tennis player from Czechoslovakia. She was the women's singles runner-up at Wimbledon in 1962, losing to Karen Hantze Susman 6–4, 6–4. Suková was a women's singles semifinalist at the French Championships in 1957 and 1963. She teamed with Jiří Javorský to win the mixed doubles title at that tournament in 1957. They were the runners-up in 1961. According to Lance Tingay, Suková was ranked in the world top ten in 1957, 1962, and 1963, reaching a career high of World No. 5 in those rankings in 1962.
