Cynthia Del Águila
Cynthia Carolina del Águila Mendizábal de Sáenz de Tejada (born 16 May 1959) is a Guatemalan teacher and politician. She was the country's from 2012 to 2015. Biography Cynthia del Águila was born in Guatemala City on 16 May 1959. She is a primary, secondary, and tertiary education teacher and holds a licentiate in Pedagogy from the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, where she studied from 1982 to 1990. She took postgraduate studies at Michigan State University in the United States. From 1996 to 2000 she was Guatemala's Technical Vice Minister of Education. She served as director of planning, coordinator of the IBRF project, and quality manager of the Ministry of Education. She was also a member of the Consultative Commission on Educational Reform, a member of the (ASIES), coordinator of the Great National Campaign for Education for several years, and is currently part of the latter's Advisory Committee. The Patriotic Party ( es, Partido Patriota, PP) was a conservative political party in Guatemala. It was founded on 24 February 2001 by retired army officer Otto Pérez Molina. Strongly compromised by corruption cases, the party fell from 36% support in 2011 to 4% in 2015. 2012 Guatemala Earthquake
The 2012 Guatemala earthquake occurred on November 7 at . The shock had a moment magnitude of 7.4 and a maximum Mercalli Intensity of VII (''Very strong''). The epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean, south of Champerico in the department of Retalhuleu. The region is one of many earthquakes, where the Cocos Plate is being subducted along the Middle America Trench beneath the North American and the Caribbean Plates, near their triple junction. The quake was reportedly felt in Guatemala and in parts of Mexico, El Salvador, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Damage to buildings was reported in several cities in Guatemala, including San Marcos, Quetzaltenango and the capital Guatemala City.
