The men's Road bicycle racing, individual time trial was one of 18 Cycling at the 2016 Summer Olympics, cycling events of the 2016 Summer Olympics. The event started and finished on 10 August at Pontal (Rio de Janeiro), Pontal, a small peninsula and beach area in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood, located in the Rio de Janeiro#West Zone, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The race start and finish were part of the Venues of the 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, Barra venues cluster and one of seven temporary venues of the 2016 Summer Olympics. Simon Geschke (born 13 March 1986) is a German professional road cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Biography He is the son of former track cyclist Jürgen Geschke. In the 2015 Tour de France, Geschke won a mountain stage as he was part of the breakaway and soloed across the line in Pra-Loup. In 2022 Geschke entered the Tour de France for the tenth time in his career. For the first time in his career he wore a classification jersey after getting involved in the breakaway on stage 9, and earning enough points to take the lead in the mountains classification. Dan Craven (born 1 February 1983) is a Namibian racing cyclist, who last rode for Namibian amateur team NCCS Cycling Team. He is the grandson of Danie Craven, the South African rugby union icon. Craven started cycling seriously when he studied at Stellenbosch University. After graduating with a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics he moved to Switzerland in 2005 in order to pursue a cycling career.
