Cuzco Province
Cusco Province is the smallest of thirteen provinces in the Cusco Region in the southern highlands of Peru. Geography Some of the highest mountains of the province are listed below: Political division The province is divided into eight districts ( es, distritos, singular: ''distrito''), each of which is headed by a mayor (''alcalde''). The districts, with their capitals in parenthesis, are: * Cusco (Cusco) (seat) * Ccorca ( Ccorca) * Poroy ( Poroy) * San Jerónimo ( San Jerónimo) * San Sebastián (San Sebastián) * Santiago ( Santiago) * Saylla ( Saylla) * Wanchaq ( Wanchaq) Ethnic groups The province is inhabited by indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Provinces Of Peru
The provinces of Peru () are the second-level administrative subdivisions of the country. They are divided into Districts of Peru, districts ( es, distritos, links=no). There are 196 provinces in Peru, grouped into 25 Regions of Peru, regions, except for Lima Province which does not belong to any region. This makes an average of seven provinces per region. The region with the fewest provinces is Callao (one) and the region with the most is Ancash Region, Ancash (twenty). While provinces in the sparsely populated Amazon rain forest of eastern Peru tend to be larger, there is a large concentration of them in the north-central area of the country. The province with the fewest districts is Purús Province, with just one district. The province with the most districts is Lima Province, with 43 districts.
