Hódmezővásárhely (; also known by other alternative names) is a city with county rights in southeast Hungary, on the Great Hungarian Plain, at the meeting point of the Békés-Csanádi Ridge and the clay grassland surrounding the river Tisza. In 2017, it had a population of 44,009. Etymology and names The city's name, which literally translates to ''Beavers' Field Marketplace'', was first mentioned after the unification of two Árpád-era villages, Hód and Vásárhely, the former getting its name after Beaver's lake, an apocope of ''Hód-tó'' (now one of the city's districts and the canal ''Hód-tavi-csatorna)'' and the latter coming from the mediaeval legal term marking settlements with the right of hosting markets and literally meaning market town. Csanádpalota
Csanádpalota (in ro, Palatul Cenad) is a town in the Makó-region of Csongrád county, in Hungary's Southern Great Plain. Geography Csanádpalota covers an area of and has a population of 3286 people (2002). It is located close to the Romanian state border about 20 km from the town of Makó. Adjacent communities include Kövegy (4 km. distant), Pitvaros (11 km.), and Nagylak (10 km.). Csanádpalota has railroad access via the Ujszeged-Mezőhegyes section of Lane 121 of the Hungarian State Railroad System (MÁV). Bus access is available via 18 bus lines that pass through the town (eight of them run until Szeged), and there are three bus stops within the town borders of Csanádpalota. Maroslele
Maroslele is a village in , southern Hungary. It covers an area of between the southeastern part of the Tisza River and Maros River and in 2009 had a population of 2,084. The village was first mentioned in records dating from 1214. Only one document survives mentioning the mediaeval town of Leléről, believed to have been named by Deac Lazăr around 1521. The village was put on a formal footing in 1872 after the etymology seems to be a romanian village as such name is not present in Hungarian language. The Roman Catholic Church, built in 1902, lies in the village square. It was donated by Bishop Sándor Dessewffy (b. 1931). The villagers drilled a well to supply water, and the main square is named the Heroes' Well. Today, it is just an artifact; the water has all been used up. Makó (, german: Makowa, yi, מאַקאָווע Makowe, ro, Macău or , sk, Makov) is a town in Csongrád County, in southeastern Hungary, from the Romanian border. It lies on the Maros River. Magyarcsanád
Magyarcsanád ( ro, Cenadul Unguresc; sr, Чанад, Čanad) is a multi-ethnic village located in Csongrád-Csanád County, southeastern Hungary, near the Mureș () River. The Maros is a border-river here between southern Hungary and northern Romania. The population is mainly Hungarian, but many Romanians, Serbs and Romani people also live here. Magyarcsanád has four churches: a Roman Catholic, a Calvinist, a Serbian Orthodox, and a Romanian Orthodox one. The village has an own outskirt called Bökény directly near the Maros. Here is a tumulus () in which archeological artifacts were found. Magyarcsanád has a partner-settlement, Comloșu Mare, in Timiș County, Romania. An old stone cross was erected near Magyarcsanád in the Middle Ages. The cross still stands.
