Créteil International Women's Film Festival
The Créteil International Women's Film Festival (in French Festival international de films de femmes de Créteil) is an annual event in Créteil, France, founded by Jackie Buet in 1978 to showcase the directing talents of female filmmakers who, at the time, had difficulty getting their films adequately distributed. The first festival was held in 1979 in Sceaux. It transferred to Créteil in 1985. Located in Créteil, a city southeast of Paris, today the festival is 10 non-stop days premiering 50 or more new films directed by one or more women. The festival also offers film classes, thematic forums and debates. The competition is open to women from around the world who have made a feature-length documentary, a short length fiction and a documentary film. Their work is judged by a jury of 6 cinema professionals. The festival offers a number of prizes including several Audience awards and the "Grand Jury Prize." Bilge Olgaç
Bilge Olgaç (10 January 1940 – 3 March 1994) was a Turkish film director. Life Bilge Olgaç was born to a poor family in Vize, a town in Kırklareli Province on 10 January 1940. While still in vocational school in Istanbul, she married Vecdi Bender in 1956. She had a son by this marriage. They divorced. In 1994, she had moved to a new house in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. She died during a fire in this house on 3 March 1994. Career She was writing short stories. Her husband, who was a film industry employee, introduced her to Memduh Ün, a film producer and a director. In 1962, Memduh Ün made a film out of one of her stories ''Kısmetin En Güzeli'' ("Best of the Fortune"). She also began working as an assistant of Memduh Ün. ''Born in Flames'' is a 1983 documentary-style feminist fiction film by Lizzie Borden that explores racism, classism, sexism, and heterosexism in an alternative United States socialist democracy.
