Crugers station was a commuter rail stop on the Metro-North Railroad's Hudson Line, located in the hamlet of Crugers, New York. It was closed in 1996 when it and the next station northbound, Montrose, was replaced by the Cortlandt station between them. History The station, which still remains in part, was replaced, along with Montrose, as the last stage of expanding the Hudson Line to six-car high-level platforms and a track curvature at the station precluded such a conversion. Together, they recorded 332 riders in the morning peak in 1991. Crugers is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in the town of Cortlandt, Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 1,534 at the 2010 census. History Crugers, New York, was named for Col. John P. Cruger. The community formerly had two New York Central Railroad stations along the Hudson Line; one was Oscawana Station in Oscawana Park, and the other was named for the community at the northwestern end of Crugers Avenue across the tracks from the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System. Metro-North Railroad's Hudson Line is a commuter rail line running north from New York City along the east shore of the Hudson River. Metro-North service ends at Poughkeepsie, with Amtrak's Empire Corridor trains continuing north to and beyond Albany. Cortlandt station is a commuter rail stop on the Metro-North Railroad's Hudson Line, located in Montrose, New York. Trains leave for New York City every hour on weekdays, and about every 25 minutes during rush hour. It is from Grand Central Terminal and travel time to Grand Central is about 62 minutes.
