Cross (Sayuri Ishikawa Album)
''X -Cross-'' (simply read as "Cross") is the 57th studio album released by Japanese kayōkyoku singer Sayuri Ishikawa, celebrating her 40th anniversary in the music industry. She collaborated with Shigeru Kishida of Quruli, Kazufumi Miyazawa of The Boom, Tamio Okuda, Michiru, Hako Yamasaki, Neko Saito, and Hiroko Taniyama to write the tracks on the album. The cover was drawn by ''JoJo's Bizarre Adventure'' author Hirohiko Araki, displaying Ishikawa in one of his characters' iconic poses and wearing hair accessories inspired by his works. Ishikawa's performance at the 63rd NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen would also involve a collaboration with Araki. The album did not break the top 100 on the Oricon Weekly Album Charts, only reaching 127 with two weeks spent on the charts. Sayuri Ishikawa
is a Japanese enka singer who made her professional debut in 1973. With a career nearing five decades, she is one of the most-recognized and successful enka singers in history. Ishikawa is a popular contestant on the annual NHK ''Kōhaku Uta Gassen'' broadcast. Up till 2017, she has been invited to perform 40 times since 1977, the year she released her biggest hit, " Tsugaru Kaikyo-Fuyugeshiki". To date, she holds the record for the most appearances in the ''NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen'' for a female artist. She has released over 100 albums (including compilation albumsIshikawa's official website lists only her Teichiku albums.) and more than 120 singles, of which a few were not enka, but rock and jazz music instead. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. Bushi (music)
is a type of Japanese folk music genre. The Japanese term , originally used in Buddhist folk music in Japan, simply means "melody". Like the generic term ''ondo'', ''bushi'', the voiced form of ''fushi'', is used as a suffix for Japanese folk songs. It is found in many Japanese traditional and folk songs, usually shamisen or sanshin songs. is a Japanese composer, arranger and music producer best known for her work on the soundtracks of anime series, television series, live-action films, video games, and advertisements. Shunji Iwai
is a Japanese film director, video artist, writer and documentary maker. Life and career Iwai was born in Sendai, Miyagi, Japan. He attended Yokohama National University, graduating in 1987. In 1988 he started out in the Japanese entertainment industry by directing TV dramas and music videos. Kenji Ueda (上田ケンジ ''Ueda Kenji'', nickname ウエケン ''UEKEN'') is a Japanese rock musician and producer. He is known for his solo work, as well as his work with Kenzi & The Trips and The Pillows. Biography Early life and influences Born August 30, 1965 in Sapporo, Ueda began playing acoustic guitar at age 9. Seeing a television appearance by Kiss inspired him to take up the electric guitar.
