The men’s sprint competition in cross-country skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 8 February, at the Kuyangshu Nordic Center and Biathlon Center in Zhangjiakou. The event was won by Johannes Høsflot Klæbo of Norway, who defended his 2018 title. The 2018 silver medalist, Federico Pellegrino, won the silver medal again. Alexander Terentyev, representing the Russian Olympic Committee, won the bronze medal. This was his first Olympic medal. Cross-country Skiing (sport)
Competitive cross-country skiing encompasses a variety of race formats and course lengths. Rules of cross-country skiing are sanctioned by the International Ski Federation and by various national organizations. International competitions include the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, and at the Winter Olympic Games. Such races occur over homologated, groomed courses designed to support classic (in-track) and freestyle events, where the skiers may employ skate skiing. It also encompasses cross-country ski marathon events, sanctioned by the Worldloppet Ski Federation, and cross-country ski orienteering events, sanctioned by the International Orienteering Federation. Håvard Solås Taugbøl
Håvard Solås Taugbøl (born 20 August 1993) is a Norwegian cross-country skier. He competed in four events at the 2011 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival, then three events at both the 2012 and 2013 Junior World Championships, winning a bronze and a silver medal in the relay. He made his World Cup debut in December 2013 in the Davos sprint, also collecting his first World Cup points with a 21st place. In his next World Cup outing, in March 2014, he finished 11th in the Lahti sprint. In 2014–15 he improved to a 7th place in December 2014 in Davos and 4th place in March 2015 in Lahti, both in sprints. He represents the sports club Lillehammer SK. Jovian Hediger (born December 17, 1990, in Reinach, Aargau) is a Swiss cross-country skier. Hediger competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for Switzerland. He placed 47th in the qualifying round in the sprint, failing to advance to the knockout stages. As of April 2014, his best showing at the World Championships was 25th through the classical sprint event in 2013. Hediger made his World Cup debut in December 2009. Benjamin "Ben" Ogden (born February 13, 2000) is an American cross-country skier. He has been a member of the U.S. Cross Country Ski Team since 2019. Ogden made history in 2018 at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships in Goms, Switzerland, when he and his teammates secured a silver medal in the junior men's relay, which was the first ever medal for the U.S. men at a World Juniors Championship event. Erik Valnes (born 19 April 1996) is a Norwegian cross-country skier. At the 2018 Junior World Championships (U23) he won the gold medal in the sprint, and also competed in the 15 km event.
